Hi there K,
my OH went today and said it was good, it was different to the one in october at the embassy, Have you been to one before?, if not it is definatly worth it, lots and lots of freebies and literature, especially from shipping firms etc.( He was given a lovly story book for children all about moving, as well as lots of other information, well worth it.

Kim and Phil
Hi K
We went there today, we thought it was a waste of time but read other reviews as thats just our opinion! My husband is a plumber, refrigeration, mechanical engineer and the only people that were there to help on some info was some agencies, but you can always register with them when you get to Oz anyway. There was alot of the shipping companies, private medical, banks and migration people, not to have jobs for you but to sell their services. I think that the water board was there for Melbourne and they were looking to recruit people, so if your thinking of moving to Melbourne then the trip could be useful. There was so many people at the Expo it was quite unbelieveable but I would say not that many stalls in comparison to people wanting to have a look and see what the stalls were all about, you found yourself trying to peer over peoples shoulders to see what was happening.
All in all to be honest we have picked more up on this web site and was hoping to go in the hope of job opportunities but it was not as we thought it would be.
Hope this helps and happy to answer any other questions you may have
HI, further to Kim & Phil's post which I read after I posted mine, Yes there is info there regarding the actual move but we was there on the hunt for jobs and about the pay in different states etc..
regards
Hi All, my 1st post just to say we went to the expo as well today 1st one I've ever been to got some good info from shipping companies but as for the rest we thought it was a waste of time especialy considering the cost. Got to agree this site is far more informative. We travelled up from Nr Bournemouth and was an expensive day all in!
we have are mind set on somewhere between brisbane and ipswich and hays advertise there jobs on the web for these areas, so i don,t think we need to go to an expo.
kimdownie
we haven't been to an expo before and we were not sure whether to make the trip tomorrow, it will be about 5 hour round trip which is quite alot of internet time.
with the help of this website and other websites i think you can find most information you need.
we are not shipping anything apart from our german shepherd and we are going on a skilled visa which i am doing myself, we are more concerned about jobs, licences and wages which seems to be the bit no one wants to tell you about.
but it wont stop us going coz this country is not fit to bring your kids up in.
Hi K,
I agree it is a very long way,if you are not after the sort of info on offer, the last one at the embassy had a lot of companies and recruitment agencies there which resulted in a lot of contacts, and a job offer in darwin, There were lots of recruitment agencies there today and phil had a good chat with a few of these and gave out his cv, but he only had an hour on the train, as we live within the london commuter belt, like you say you can always ask questions on here and someone will always answer them.
