457 Temp Visa & Claiming Child Benefit etc

Hi Ya,

Can anyone applying on a 457 Company Sponsorship Visa clarify the situation with Child Benefit. I know that you cant claim from OZ obviously as not a PR. But as you r still a resident of UK can u still claim it from UK whilst living in OZ? Cant seem to find any info on this.

Cheers me dears

If you ring child benefit they'll be able to answer your question. I know as PR's we weren't entitled to claim, but can if we return to UK and children still young enough

Hi , did you ever get the answer to this. I am considering coming out on a sponsorship and am unsure about whether I am entitled to UK or Aussie child benefit. The way it looks to me ...neither

Hi

I am here now! you are not entitled to claim anything when you leave the UK and cannot claim any family assistance, rent assistance here basically you have to be self sufficient. Also please bear in mind if you go to NSW you also have to pay school fees there, not in the other states.

Good Luck

Hi,
Dont know if this helps but we have lived in the south of France for 4 years, when we moved here we phoned the child benefit office and they said we could'nt claim child Benefit so they stopped our money but when we looked into it they were wrong. We found out that if you pay British National insurance you can still get it, which we were. I know France is in Europe and it might be so different but all i'm saying is dont take one persons word for it.

You have to inform them and also i am closing my bank accounts in UK so money cant go in there anymore. I am not taking the chances of being billed for something i am not entitled to

Sorry to say as soon as you leave the Uk you are not entitled to Child Benefit . It doesnt matter that you may have a temporary visa it stops . Also CSA will not chase arrears either
