Hi SaintHurlock

Yes, the 457 visa gives your Partner unlimited work-rights and since she is not tied to your Sposor, she can do any job that she chooses.

Cheers

Gill

Question I hope its not BDS RECRUITMENT

Hy
I don't wish to dampen anyones spirit but i hope it's not BDS RECRUITMENT who are taking you over ?
I was going out with them 2 years ago to Ferra Aerospace then they pulled the plug 2 days later with everyone being told no go. Trouble was some people had gone out there lock stock and barrel to find they had.
  • No Job
  • No Entitlement to be in Australia
  • No Home back Home as some had sold them
Basically they were Shafted Big Time.
I got a bit Pi&$ed off and thought i would go the sensible route ( only my opinion ) but it took me till now to make the 1st moves again.
Hope all goes well though.

Hi Heywood Monkey

I know aother couple who nearly came unstuck with the company that you mention. Their 457 visa was granted in Feb 2006, but the wife needed an operations so they decided to stay in the UK till that had been done.

By December 2006 she was fully-recovered, but BDS started to wriggle. They admitted that they were under investigation bu DIAC. They insisted to the couple that this would be "no problem" because some other recruitment company was lined up to take over the sponsorship if BDS weer to lose their own sponsorship permit.

The rest of us roared, "Why are they under investigation? Why do you want to take a chance on any employer who is? It is not as easy as somebody else simply taking over the sponsorship, either." Etc.

Like you, the couple had second thoughts and are now applying for a skilled 136 visa instead.

I totally second what you have said in your post. The 457 is presented as a super kwik-Fix by employers in Oz but I don't believe that it is everything that some of them crack it up to be.

Cheers

Gill

I came over on a 457 through a nursing agency in the UK. I have to say I didnt think it was any risk when we left, I never doubted that we would get permanent resdiency! Probably better to think like taht than worry all the time!
Only limitations I had on a 457 was taht I had to work for the nominated employer and i had to do minimum 72 hrs per fortnight and no more than 76. I didnt have an issue with that and neither did they. The company that I work for actually `bought me out` of my agency contract and took over my sponsorship only 4 months in so everything worked out real well for me. They then after 18 months sponsored me through permenent residency! Here to stay me!
