Taking Pets..?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone had attempted or managed emigrating with their pets too.. If so how did you manage it? Any tips? I have an adorable cat that's been around for 7 years and leaving her behind would be the hardest thing about he move!!
Cheers!
Helen

Hi Helen, i have 4 cats and a dog. 2 of the cats are coming and the dog as well. the two other cats are old and one is a old moggy from the cat protection who is old and poorly and there is no way he could make the journey, he's going to live with his nan....she knows nothing about this yet!. It isnt cheap, The dog will be approx £2700 and the cats approx £1400 each. i sugested leaving the dog behind but got an icey stare and some language i wont repeat on here! the dog is now coming with us lol!!
Where are you heading in oz as that can have a bearing on the price depending on if there i quarantine station nearby or if they will then have to be flown to wherever you are after their 30 day quarantine.
Its different for everyone, some re home their pets and some take them.

Hi,
Thanks for reply, blimey that's a bit expensive but she's worth it! Hopefully off to Canberra so I'm not sure if that's a direct flight or a stopover in SYD 1st. I will be worried sick about her on that journey though. Hope your move goes well. good luck!

Hi

We brought our 15 year old cat Becky, she survived the journey, quarentine and is now happily living in Perth. We're glad we brought her - we've had her longer than the kids!!

We emigrated to Brisbane almost 4 years ago and bought two German Shepherds (one long haired!!!) and two cats. They all came through unscathed, arrived from quarantine in perfect condition and have all adapted to the weather with no problems.

we used Airpets at Heathrow. Then to transport them from Sydney to Brisbane Dogtainers (we thought the 14 hour drive with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 moaning teenagers would be hell so we paid $500 and had the babes flown to Brizzie airport and delived to our door in an air conditioned truck

We used Pets on the move, because they had a local office near where we lived.
