there are ,(have been?), some dubious posts on this web site,(see one today in this forum below),is the site getting monitored for rude postings because i feel that the post below,(from gerferder), has no place on a family/change of lifestyle web site.

Unfortunately we are being bombarded at the moment and between the 3 of us (tim is away) we seem to be deleting on average 3 or 4 messages each day,we try our best to 'catch' them as soon as possible ,unfortunately there will always be one that slips through the net, thankyou to eveyone who reports these issues we are in 3 different time zones so try our best to monitor everything but as with all sites these issues will arrise

We do come onto the site every day I know other sites where moderators don't look at the site for ages. As Cal says, we're in 3 different time zones and are doing our best to get rid of them quickly.
I think Gill has said that since the new format for the site was introduced our membership has risen quite substantially and unfortunatley we will from time to time get these posts.
Some of the titles are quite obviously spam, porn or advertising so you do have an option of not opening them.

I woke up at 2am and had a look at the site whilst having a cuppa. (I'm in the UK) I deleted a porn thread and tried to reply to this thread but my machine didn't boot up properly and Windows removed all the spaces between sentences and paragraphs. (I think the machine might be about to crash.) I deleted the result because it was a garbled mess but I was too sleepy to do any more.
The porn and drugs threads are a pain. I delete them as soon as I see them, as do Ali & Cal. With Ali in Perth, Cal in Brisbane and me in the UK, I think that between us we manage to look at the site every couple of hours round the clock.
Tim bans the offenders by banning their e-mail addresses, which prevents them from logging on. It is impossible to stop them from setting up another user name and a different e-mail address though. Also, Tim told us that it could be that it is not actually the work of a human every time. It could be computers generating these multiple user names etc. I've noticed that with some of them, only a couple of letters in the user-names change after the original culprit's thread has been banned.
I deleted one thread by one Vanseolong. This same thread then appeared on Poms in Perth and was there for some days.
Hitting the "report post" button (the yellow diamond with an exclamation mark in it) generates an instant e-mail to all 3 of the Mods.
Some forums are pre-moderated. No new threads or replies appear until the Mods have vetted them and OK'd them. That slows the site up so much that by the time anything appears, life has moved on and everyone has forgotten the original query. It makes those sites boring because they are so slow.
There just isn't an easy solution as far as I know. I know that the forum is now running on something called V-bulletin. If anyone knows of an anti-spam filter that can be used with this package, I would suggest a PM to Tim.
I know of a few forum sites which you have to enter a series of numbers which helps to stop automated spammers. It's a problem that can only be resolved b a moderator being informed and bloking straight away, Spammers will only target popular sites as they want the maximum exposure, i'm afraid pomsinoz.com is becoming a victim of it's own success.
