Does everyone know where they want to go to and what made you decide that?
Obviously we are in the very early stages and will go where the work is but having done a bit of research we are favouring the East Coast rather than WA at the moment. My stepbrother is actually living near Fremantle and loves it but it just seems so far away from everywhere else when you look on the map.
Felicity has family out in victoria when we visited two years ago i didnt want to come home so that was the start of it for me,we feel that having family in the same state will give us a little security. Atleast we got someone to call on if things start to run away from us.we want to go out there and make the best life possible even have a family out there??? we both feel this country holds nothing for us and would never even think of bring a child into the world if we stay in uk. We have no rose coloured specs and know we have got to work maybe harder than here, but both of us feel it is right for us. sorry if any of the spelling is wrong thats the wifes side of things
Michael.

well, for us it was rather easy - our best friends moved to adelaide 3 years ago. and so we looked there first and like what we found out so far!
what i figured by reading lots check the climate you like, obviously jobs, houseprices, things to do, if you don't necessarily need the beach look further inland, and if you really don't like where you end up keep looking around - some moved to a different state and where happy there :)
Queensland for us as well. I have family on the Gold Coast so it makes sense to head there. I've a job offer from a mate of mine on the Sunshine Coast but will probably end up staying close to my sis, my BIL and the kids.
We're not planning to go over until Easter 08, hopefully to validate the visa if we're lucky enough to get them, which is why we decided not to apply until about now. The way the visas are getting thru' at the moment and with the wind in the right direction, we should hopefully, time it about right.
Of course, if the application goes belly up for what ever reason..........no, no, mustn't think that way.........
We changed are minds a few times. Jobs did it in the end for us, plus Perth is just too pricey for us now. We are going to Queensland as we want to be able to afford the dream property. Hubby is a fitter so loads of jobs in that area.
The thing is if you are going to be in rented you might want to try out several areas. Or choose one area and explore the rest as you holiday. Nothing has to be set in stone. If you don't like one place don't right Oz off just try somewhere else.
Wanted Down Under helped us plus a New Life Down Under but most areas have great websites so just try and do as much research as possible.
We've not been to Oz (yet) and have no family over there. However I have had a lot of very good friends spend a year or so in Oz and each one of them has raved about QLD. We then got on the web and just started researching. We looked at jobs, house prices and what there is to do in the area that interests us, such as sailing and diving.
So after many weeks of surfing the net and reading every book we could find with info on QLD we have narrowed it down to Brisbane or Townsville. We are going out in September for a couple of weeks to check the places out in the flesh, as it were, before making our final decision.
I grew up in QLD and Vic so childhood memories biggest decision maker. But sis is in Melbourne and I'm fair skinned so Vic wins it!! Oz is so big that it probably doesn't matter which city you're in distance-wise as none of them are day trip away anyway.
I reckon if you have no pull to a specific area you just have to do a million bits of research and not finally make your mind up until you've seen it and made your own mind up - it's so hard to rely on other people's opinions unless they've got the same aims as you. So trips to all the options to decide - hey it's only 12k miles away!!!
QLD (sunshine coast) was our first choice. The english weather just really gets me down. But its all rather scary as we don't have family or friends in Oz and we are emigrating as "Business owners" (buying or building a childcare centre). It'll be like being re-born, but with a little bit of experience.
But hey! if you don't give it a go, you will never know.
Hi Andrea,
We came to NSW only becuase my hubby lived here in the 90´s and knew he could get work here, we hope in time when saved a bit more that we could move to Queensland as that is such a wonderful place and hubby would like to live there too.
Guess its all trial and error really - guess to make it eaiser for you take into consideration house prices and job opportunities,
wish you every happiness where ever you settle
