School info.

Hi, I'm a new user to the site. I won't tell you all my life story but the things you will need to know to help me. I am 16 years old and currently living in the united kingdom and my G.C.S.E exams are comming up in 8 weeks. My family and i have a resident return visa which ends in 6 weeks, as a result of my exams in the 8 weeks, we have applied for a further five year extention but we were sadly turned down. I came to pomsinoz to see what information was available on the schooling system and to see what would happen if i was to leave for oz before my exams, what exams would i need to take in oz? How long would the course be? Any available help would make me grateful.

Chris.

G'day

High school varies from state to state. Where in Oz are you thinking of going?

Hi Chris, sadly I don't know the answer either, but I'm speaking to my sister in Brisbane tonight and she's got 2 kids who were in a similar position. I can let you know if no-one answers you before.

try and complete your gsces if you can as youve done all the work and finishing them will mark the end of a era for you . i know a 16 yr old whose parents insisted he come here with them within months of sitting his exams and hes resented their decision ever since and has not liked having to redo yr 10 in order to get the equivalent oz school certificate.you can enter yr 11 with just a school reference too. and go on to do hsc here which is equivalent to alevels

Hiya Chris01285, What a difficult situation to be in shame when you worked for your GCSE and can't stay just to sit them!! Will they not even extend the visa to let you sit your exams?
Check out this thread "Debut post from Springfield Lakes" it's by Scotty Dog and his a teacher in Brisbane, you could pm him and he may be able to give you some advise.
If your not thinking of returning to the UK it may not be a problem as not sure that the GCSE's are recognised in Australia, but frustrating when you done all the work! I pm'd Scotty Dog and he gave sound advise. My son is prob going to repeat a school year when we go to Aus as he will be 16/17 by the time we go (if visa's passed).
Gd luck hope all turns out well for you
regards
