Hi Flye.
NO, your not NOT goin mad!! Its perfectley normal to worry about meds......infact theres not much you don't worry about during this process..........even when your here you'll worry........but thats another story!!
Back to meds....We had a slight hicup with ours as OH's BP was thro' the roof so we had to have it checked with gp till we he got 3 "normal results" This only took a week and then everything was sent off to panel docs, who sent it on to lcu. We sent an email to them, about 2 weeks later and they replied with words to the affect........meds recieved......nothing to report.
There are people on here with all sorts of health issues that have passed the meds no problem!!
Try NOT to worry and good luck
Lesley

Hi there! We had our meds done about a fortnight ago - the doc told us at the time that we were ok, we then just had to phone back when they got the blood test results back (which we did and wre told all ok).

Hi all,

I can remember that feeling, and we knew on the day that Medicals were ok when we went from the hospital to Docs with X-rays he opended them and told us everything was fine then he did Medicals and all we had to wait for was the Blood Test results a few days later, it is such a nerve racking time but try not to worry, we haver been in Oz now 6 months and the time is just flying by Good Luck all Frances. By the way we had Medicals done in southend essex.

Hi Frances
I noticed that you had your meds done in Southend. Can I ask where? Was it the BUPA? How long did it take for you to get an appointment? The reason I ask is because we live in France (originally from Benfleet!) and when we make a trip back to the UK in August we are thinking of getting our meds done then - do you think this will be possible or do we have to have an UK address for them to send things to?
Look forward to hearing from you.
Carla

Thanks Jo
That will make things alot easier, seeing an english speaking doctor opposed to one here. Do you know if gp records will be an issue because obviously not living in the UK for 2 years we don't have a gp?

Hi

We had our meds today in Southampton. Lovely doctor. We took the x rays with us and he looked at them and done the meds and said all were normal!!! We just have to wait for bloods to come back, and they will send them off to LCU Sydney. Fingers crossed all goes well and we hear soon.

Red face Cough and drop

Ohhh Matron

I am somewhat confused regarding the medical, i recently ( 2 weeks ago ) had to have a full medical at my companies doctor, part of their policy. I did the full trip, chest, lungs on the flow meter, blood pressure, eyes, ears, bent my legs round the back of my head ( not joking either ) even did the infamous " Cough & Drop " I didn't give blood for tests though but the medical was intense and i thought some parts uneccesary, but i wont go into that part.
So a few questions....
  • Is the medical for part of the deal similar to what i have just outlined ?
  • Is it your own Doctor or an appointed one ?
  • Is there a minimum pass rate
