Daft Question???

Whats the advice to a UK family of 4 (2 kids at secondary age) once
the visor is granted and yet there's no job to go to?

a) Search for work from from the UK until someone says yes (Telephone
interviews and suchlike)
b) just turn up and hope you've enough money to keep you in
accomodation until you find a job?

What do most people do in this case?
What are the options?

I think it's personal choice, we're also family of 4 (kids 12 & 7), we wanted the security of at least one job - I was actually offerred a post before I got my visa, hubby managed to secure something 3 months before we left UK. It meant peace of mind for us knowing we'd have income etc., pretty quickly.

Others have waited and got jobs when they've arrived - not right or wrong answer - what do you feel more comfortable doing?

Suppose it depend on what job you're going for. Me, I'd go for (a) as my jobs are thin on the ground anyway and if it ran out of time just go on my own to seek work (I could rough it - wife and kids can't). But as Ali says its a personal thing. Although I am an adventurer at heart, my family aren't and I put them first. That's my 2 cents.

Option B for us... Chance it!!!!
Not much choice really, coz OH is 44 so we have to get out there quick.!!
Might be a good idea to take Jo's advice, as we were also thinking of sending e-mails, making phone calls etc., etc., just before we leave , to line up some interviews at least, for when we first get out there.......
Hopefully it should all work out fine (optimistic or wot??!!)

Are you going out on 136 independant then DHillary??????
