My wife and I applied for our 136 skilled visa in June 2006 and we have just had our meds,(2 weeks ago), and the results were ok and have been sent off to oz. Is that it?, or is there some thing else lurking in the immigration department that they need/require before we get our visas. my wife seems to think that they wouldn't ask you to go for the meds, and spend the money for them, if they did not want us.
any info would be good, so i'll know where we stand,(or how long we'll have to wait).

It's the big wait now I'm afraid - waking up at 5am to check your emails, the disappointment - then just as you think you're not going to hear anything you get the special email and you think you're dreaming!!

hi Ali,
thanks for the info, can't wait to get to oz. my wife and myself are going against the grain when we go, because we intend to live in the illawarra area of oz,nsw, (as i have family there).
i must be slightly unusual on this forum because I held australian residency in the early ninties, but I returned to the UK and it lapsed. some people reading that must think that i was mad but I returned to the UK for persoanl reasons then once back started playing rugby for my local club again, got married then woke up and I was 36!!!.
It seems the right time for us to go oz, and in my experience,(I was in oz twice from '91 through till '93), its a beautiful place to be, I just hope it has'nt changed much in the last 14 years.
I recently visited Australia and arrived into Sydney Airport in the early hours. I looked at my watch and it was on UK time so I asked a customs guy, who was originally from the Uk, what time it was in Australia. He replied it was the 1990's. so you should be ok.
