Red face Getting our Meds/Moving to Brisbane Where???

Hello to all,

I have not visited the site for a while as everything was moving quite slowly, until we got a request for our meds and police checks!!! Had our x-rays and are now booked in for our meds next week!!

We fly to Brisbane at the end of May for a holiday with our 2 kids (aged 7 and 2) and are staying in Burleigh Heads. We have no family in the area (our family contacts are in Tasmania) and really would like to know what residential area's are good and which should be avoided. Anyone who can help with this??

We are going to put our house up for sale in a few months. Not sure how long after our meds we will get our visa, obviously dependant on the outcome of our medicals.
Hoping to be leaving by October if all goes to plan! Told my sister and the tears have started already. Really hard to leave everyone so I hope it will all be worth it!!!!!

Lindsay & Scott

Hi Lindsay

I am not in Oz yet but I guess you need to both work out what you want from life, whats important - the beach, houses, jobs, schools etc. I am sure lots of people will come up with suggestions but some that I have heard have been
North Lakes - for brisbane and Caloundra for Sunshine coast - good luck

Hello, our family are in Clear Island Waters all of the area Burleigh, Robina, Main Beach, Broad Beach etc all those places are really nice. I have been there 5 times (last being Aug 05) and have never come across any place in that area to avoid. Main Beach is really nice with all its little restaurants and I even love Surfers Paradise (its the tat shops love them). Dont forget a visit to Dream World for the kids (well I love it) and Sea Life Centre.

Have a fab time.......wish it was me

Em x

Hello again

Thank you for your replies, I have made a note of the places you mentioned in my little red book - which is in fact my bible of information ( yes I am to organised for my own good!) I will certainly have a visit during our trip, and yes we will definately be visiting the parks, think I'm more excited about those than the kids are!!!

Regards

Lindsay

Hi Lyn,

Yes I am really looking forward to exploring the area. It's come around fast from when we decided to apply for the initial skills test. Looks like you will probably get your visa same sort of time as us. We are not putting our house up for sale for a little while yet, hoping it will sell straight away, going of house sales in the same street. Do you have any children and what sort of visa did you apply for?

Good luck with the rest of your application process and will defo keep in touch !!!

Hi ya Lindsay
My hubbys a plumber so we've applied under the 136 independant skilled, all looking good so far. Got 2 kids son Callum 16 whos a dancer/performer and 20 year old daughter Carly who loves off road motorbikes and is training to be a physio. Think I got my wires crossed somewhere when having them!?!? Daughter is having to come under her own application along with her boyfriend as she is deemed independant. They are both gonna apply for student visas as they both want to continue studying but they'll be living with us which is great (l think! - course it is!?!)
There is a dance school in Burleigh Heads where my son is hoping to study to get his diploma. We are hopefully going out there again in Nov so he can audition for it. If he gets in we may well live fairly close to that area so defo let us know what you think!
Enjoy !
