I tried this post on the welcome forum and didn't get a single reply, so I'm going to have another go here.
Are there really no ladies who have emmigrated or thinking of emmigrating that have a trade in the construction industry.
I did have great difficulty finding work myself in this country, it's only through my husband that I managed to get work as he is a builder and we work for the same person.
Now I'm wondering will I face the same discrimnation in oz.
someone please reply if they have any info.

I can't answer your question, but today I saw a female road worker and had to do a double take, she was laying out cones to put close a lane of the road, I've never seen this in the UK - so maybe there isn't the same prejudice??

Hi Boobear.
We are in Victoria and my OH is a brickie so i've just asked him about women on building sites. He has worked with a female brickie, (she was working for her dad) and he also says he has come across quite a few female lorry drivers!!
Hope this helps.
