My straightners work fine here and my hair is in excellent condition, I think because the water here in Victoria is soooo soft. If any thing I have found I can get away with using cheaper shampoo (allways Redken in UK @£7.00 a bottle) but I still use the same straightning product...for protection.
The biggest problem you will have out here is finding a hairdresser who isn't stuck in a 1980's big hair time warp (think Melanie Griffith in working girl) .
If you are heading Mornington way I have an excellent hairdresser, English and Vidal Sasoon trained!!
Lesley
Hey Lesley, thats one of the things I do worry about...I have a wonderful hairdresser here that knows just what she is doing and I even offered to take her with me in my luggage, she went out to Oz last year for 3 months and that was bad enough to go without her for that long!!!! On the plus side tho,her and her fella are thinking of migrating there now...Just gotta convince her that the town we are going to is the place she will want to be :)
I think with perfect hair in oz def stand out like a sore thumb!! When our rellies came over from oz for our wedding they were so dressed down couple people thought they'd just walked in off the street lol
I dont think I have ever seen OH cousin dry her hair, they just seem to wash it and let nature take its course.......think Id end up like a frizz bomb
Well I must say thanks to all you uk ladies that would miss their hairdressers as I have not yet told my clients that I am leaving england to stretch my leggs in oz.
I am a hairdresser who will miss her ladies as much as they will me!!!
It's a world all to itself "the hairdressers", and I love it...
I would like to offer my expertise where needed so feel free to ask and I will do my best to help.
It humidity thats the prob with oz as this makes even the straightest of hair go wild so the best advice I can give is to either go with it and find a style you can manage or pay loads of money to have it managed. I am on the case of products to help,as my hair has a mind of its own too!!

OMG Cal.........
As if us ladies don't have enough to worry about !!!! I thought I could go to OZ for a more relaxed life style, now looks like I'll be too busy straightning my hair & shaving my legs to enjoy it

Well cant speak for rest of Aus but here in Melbourne, every third shop is a nail bar or hairdressers. A spa pedicure with french polish is about $40 a manicure with french is about $20. My feet are on display all the time here and my heels are like elephants skin because all I ever wear are thongs so I do treat myself to a pedicure once a month and a manicure once a fortnight.
The best thing I have found to beat the frizz is Paul Mitchell super skinny serum You can buy it here for about $7 it cost me £8 in UK.
I know I sound like a right vain cow but hey, thats just the way I am.
Take the girl 12000 miles out of Essex but you'll never take the Essex out the girl!!
