Shipping quotes - GULP!!

hiya just got my quote through today from curtiss removals which are part of whites as they are down south and happily came over to the isle of wight but GULP!! for 1/2 a 20ft container with a motorbike (which cost about £800 to ship on its own) it was £2800 i couldnt believe it i'd thought that a whole 20 footer was £3000 but to spend that on 1/2 i was shocked. Called PSS and they said roughly the same cost. Robinsons said they would fone me back but that was 7hrs ago so i doubt i'll hear from them. i have someone coming to quote that on the island so we'll see how much it is for just my stuff and not my brothers bike.

i look at my stuff and i think do i really need it all but i've got rid of so much stuff already this is stuff i'll need when i get a house, i mean theres only 2 small items of furniture and 3 tool boxes. i'm like blimey what would i be like if it wasnt just me!!!

so tell me does this cost seem right? i think they have added bout £200 to come over here on the ferry etc.

look forward to your advise

thanks

ali

Have you tried contacting Excess Removals?? We intend using them and we`ve been quoted about £500 for 10 tea chests plus a bike, I know someone who used them for moving all their furniture (3 bed house) to Oz and she reckoned they were very reasonable and had no problems at all with them. If you are interested the number is 02083242066, try giving them a call ( I found them very helpful).:)

thats crazy ,Isnt it ? My son wants to send his mini. we got a quote for £700. I have been wondering if a few people got together and put all there stuff in together, IE one container, would it work out cheaper. Near home last month a bloke had 44foot container dropped at his house ( he had the room ) he packed it himself , then the truck picked it up, and he sent it to ....Vietnam. There has got to be a cheaper way ? "MO"

Hi Ali I tried to PM you but it must have gone wrong some how. I know you are leaving on 23rd so hope you have time to answer this message but I have the same problem living on the IOW and wondered which company you decided on as we have Anglo Pacific comming round today for a quote. Had one off Crown they said £3000.00 for 1/2 20ft (having to bring lorry and two men ,overnight accomadation etc) I dont think our stuff will fit in 1/2 a 20ft. I was thinking of a whole 20ft one. Hope you can help, or anyone else who has any quotes or ideas. Im almost thinking of selling everything and buying new again but there are all my husbands tools (he's a brickie) I would much prefere to have my home comforts with me. Sad but true!! Hope every one is well today and in good spirits. Gilly

Shipping costs

Hi
We had our house contents shipped to brisbane on friday just gone £3,024.00 for a 20ft container ********* Bradshaws Trafford Park Manchester Insurance cost £680.00 you could have cheaper but we decided to have a better cover damages, lost at sea. Pickfords do worldwide maybe worth a call. Good luck.
