Medicals...query.

Hello,

I had quite a serious illness about 10 years ago which the docs were 90% sure was the result of an allergic reaction to a drug I took as a teenager (a legal one!). The problem is that my medical file is now like an unedited version of War and Peace. Its all fine now and although I have to take certain precautions when it comes to antibiotics, I am not in the least bit worried that it might flare up again.

Does anyone know, if they have experienced something similar, whether this could prove to be a problem in getting medicals as it was not 100% diagnosed as drugs being the cause?

Do I infact flatter myself into thinking that they would be in the slightest bit interested in any of this?

Thanks in advance,

Caroline

Hiya your best to at least mention it to the panel doctor,to save time try and get as much info off your GP first ,i dont think it will prevent you gaining a visa at the worse they may request you go to a private specialst of there choosing,,the more info and paperwork you can provide up front should cut down the waiting time ,try not to panic i relly do think you will be ok ,,

Ask your doctor to do a summary letter and to include that there shouldn't be any further problems. They're only really interested if you're going to cost them loads of money

Thanks you two,

I will ask my doctor to write out something for me. He should do...we're paying him enough!

The Ryders is on a distinguished road
It might also help to discuss it with the panel doctor or nurse (they are very well informed). I had to get a doctors letter about some treatment I had just recieved. Think they are only worried about AIDS, TB and serious health issues - good luck.

gail.crease is an unknown quantity at this point
Hi Caroline

You should be fine. My husband had a shadow on his lung discovered by accident about 5 years ago. It turned out to be sarcoidosis and didn't need any treatment. It was monitored for a few years then disappeared on it's own. We were worried as they are strict on TB or any abnormal chest x-rays. Luckily it wasn't on the x-ray for the panel doctor and we'd bought along a letter from his consultant from last year saying he was now clear. Hubby passed his medical assessment with no problem. If medical conditions are resolved before the examination and you have a letter from your doctor stating this you'll have no problem.

Good luck

Gail

Hi again,

Both my son and myself have both had renal scans, I declared this on the medical form and took copies of consultants letters saying there wasn't a problem and there shouldn't be one in the future (my urine shows blood when tested), the panel doc said he didn't think there would be a problem for either of us - and the medicals passed. The more info you supply the better
