Hi Essex boy........
Not 100% on this one but come to think of it, im sure I read a post from someone, saying she wished she had'nt listened to everything on this site, coz she left everything in the UK and obviously it cost a small fortune to replace it all over there, and found out later most things are compatible (with the exeption of TV's - thats more complicated!!!!)
Anyway, just wondered how things are for you now (re: its all gone tits up!!)... Hope your other half is on the road to recovery and feeling better... At least you still have a great new life in Oz to look forward too!!!!! :D Best wishes

Your washing machine will certainly work alright in Australia; as to whether it is worth transporting it, you will be able to buy new, for prices ranging between £200 and £400.
There is more of a tendency for top loading machines in Australia, but front loaders are also available.
Try this link and have a shop around http://www.binglee.com.au
We shipped ours over and it arrived, looking like it had been hit by a forklift!!! It later turned out it had LOL. I wouldn't be laughing if the shippers hadn't met the cost and told us to go out and buy a new one straight away!!
Anyway bought a top of the range Bosch from Clive Peters at the weekend for $945.00. It was up for $1100. but had a little haggle, which you can do here and the more you spend the better the discount!! Even got a FREE ironing board thrown in(not sure if that was a good thing, as now no excuse NOT to do the ironing).
The other thing to remember if you do send yours over, is to make sure its completely clean and dry inside beforehand as a friends arrived with 2" of mildue growing inside where there was water still laying in it when packed, yuk!!
Hows Andrea doing btw.

Hi, Yes bring your washing machine, here in NSW the government are currently giving folks $250 if they go out a purchase a front loader (this is due to the water shortage) as the top loaders use too much water !!! The front loaders are quite expensive here and i was pleased that i brought my 4 year old zanussi with me as i have been told that if you do buy a front loader buy a english make that has been inported as the aussie ones are still new in the making and keep breaking down,
How many joneses are there? Andrea is on the mend we are off to Hastings today to see her Auntie it'll be good to get her out.
I think it is a good idea to take machine with us thanks to the info you have given. I have a Bosch and it is economical. and I will clean and dry it good advise.

My Mood:
Queensland also offer a money back scheme of a few hundred dollars if you buy a front loader machine ,we didnt think they were too expensive to buy but if yours is ok it shouldnt make that much difference to costs of removal, the shippers should be able to tell you ,the guy that came and did our quote told us roughly what items would cost to take which we found helpful

We've brought our front loader (it should arrive any day), my hubby whose an electronics enginer says there's no reason why it shouldn't work. We've brought heaps of stuff, and we'll still have to buy more furniture - but the cost of a container was £3,800 with insurance and it would cost way more than that to furnishe a house. Plus I can't wait to have some familiar things around me.
