I have flown from oz twice on my own. I did it in one go from sydney the 1st time then perth the 2nd time, it took roughly 24 hours from leaving the airport to arriving in the airport local to me.
As for jet lag you feel like you have been in a washing machine for a few days but it will pass.
My wife and myself have canadian residency as well as ,(hopefully ), getting the oz one, and after journeying round canada last summer,(to holiday and activate our visa), we returned to the uk with the knowledge that we had two days to move out of our house,(we had been in contact with the solicitors all the time), but this time when we go to oz we won't be coming back, (for a few years at least!!).
