Sunshine Coast Schools.???

Hi,
Have just registered as I only found this site the other day....it looks a great place to get helpful advice & make friends....so here goes with the helpful advice needed, PLEASE.
:)
We are moving out to the sunshine coast in July but still haven't decided exactly where yet.
We are looking for a school for our 8 & 11 year old girls. In July they would be joining in year 4 & year 7. I would like them to be on the same campus if possible to make school runs easier.
The problem is which schools should we put on our short list to visit when we get there??. Looking round the schools websites gives you some information but it would be great if anyone out there can give us some recommendations.
We are looking at state schools or non-state schools ( but we aren't really religious!!).
Any help/information would be great.

Cheers,
Sylvi.

schools

Hello there.

We are going out to the sunshine coast next week purely to look at schools and houses. We have already looked at the mountain creek state school and have contacted a few others to visit in March. I have looked at the qld education web site which was helpful but i believe you can not really tell anything from a school until you have seen it. The biggest thing for me is that boys aged 10 and 7 currently go to a small school (200 pupils) the schools in australia seem huge the mountain creek primary school has over 1700 pupils just for primary ages. Although i was horrified at this when we viewed the school it did not feel that large and the children did not seem to mind it. Buderim state school looks a really nice and good school. Did you have any areas in mind.

We have our visas and once the house is sold we will be off and we too are hoping for August

This might be old news to a couple of you but I have put a posting about Sunshine Coast schools under the Queensland section.

Paul.

sorry for delay only just come accross your request. We visited a few schools all state schools. We all have difference of opinions. All the schools were good in the fact they offered a good curriculum, teachers great, kids so well behaved, tuck shop. I just felt that the schools were too big. my sons 10 and 7 go to a school with 200 pupils all there schools are between 400 and 600?? Saying that, they did a good job as did not feel as big as this. All the schools had two classrooms which could or could not be segregated which i though must be distracting but i am told it is not. Non of the schools had air con which surprised me. I will say though that the schools were very good if not a bit old. We are now looking at two private schools in buderim. We are not private school people but BOTH boys can go for under £3000 for the year, air con, private pool and they stay here right through to high school which i think is nice. There is no stigma attached to a private school in OZ so i have emailed both these schools and i am waiting to hear back from them. We will be over in August and are now looking at renting in Buderim. We have bought land in Kawana Island to self build and will rent in the meantime. How about you guys. Cant be long now

We arrived here 3 years ago and my kids go here http://chancellorsc.eq.edu.au/wcmss/. Our youngest went to primary (year 5) when we arrived and came from a primary school with 110 pupils, had no problems adjusting.
Let me know if I can be of any help, Regards Jarvl.
