CARS

Hello all

We are flying into Perth next month. Then traverling to Adelaide up through middle to darwin (to meet Firends) then to the east coast all in search for the place we would like to spend the rest of our lives. Thing is we intend on buying a brand new or nearly new car. are prices acroos the board diffrent or is it not worth worrying about the diffrence and just buy one in Perth.

Thanks John

Hi

Cars are much more expensive here, so make sure you ear mark enough money for that one. second hand cars are nearly as expensive as new ones. Auctions are your best bet, rather than the flashy show courts.
My advice would be to get a big car with a good air con and preferably with cruise control, makes life a little easier.
Enjoy your trip!

I agree with the above post about the price of cars, and auctions sometimes have good buys but if you are travelling you dont want a big fuel guzzler which alot are and you may also want mechanical piece of mind.As a guide ,,we bought a mitsubushi lancer that was 3mth old so still under warranty we paid $17,000 that was November 06,you do find 2nd hand cars hold their money much more than the uk but there isnt the rust worrys etc over here.A good guide would be to go on 'the courier mail' on line and click on the car section ,the trading post also has lots of cars for sale ,if you cant find them check out ebay australia, hope this helps and good luck with your trip ,,watch for the police ,speeding tickets seem to be issued for fun

Thanks for advise Cal & Carrie

I'm doing a little research on the net but not not sure about Auctions they may be cheaper but I know little about cars and I do not want to buy a dud. I like the idea of nearly new but just if I can afford to go that way. Still I'll get the feel of things while I'm there

Thanks again John

Where are the auctions held? Do they happen in most cities?

How long from when we arrive do you think it will take to buy a car?
