      Quick Connection at Heathrow

Booked to travel from Manchester with BA then onto Perth via Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific. We land at Heathrow at 4.30pm in terminal 5 and have to get to terminal 3 for connection leaving 6.20. It has all been booked as one ticket via agengy not as 2 separate flights. Anyone done this, will it be enough time?. Will insurance cover us if we are late landing at Heathrow?

      Check your insurance cover.

And it should be. They don't schedule them with only a 10 minute turn around. If you've got concerns chat with the agency. T5 to T3 isn't far and your luggage could already be checked right?

Have a read of this for travel between terminals. I've done T4 from T1 on occasion, its 20 minutes or so. Usually we just fly out of Heathrow as I can't be doing with worrying about connections. We get a night flight and leave in the afternoon to allow time to get there.

Click on the connecting option and follow it through.

You'll be fine. If it's one ticket from MAN to MEL the airlines have an obligation to get you there, so if they sell a ticket with not enough time to connect it's their problem, not yours and you'll get swapped to a different plane or even another airline. Your bags probably won't though.

Either way, that's plenty of time to get across LHR. Because you are checked in already the crew will be able to call ahead to Heathrow if you are delayed on the connecting flight and they'll arrange ground staff to escort you to T3 if you're really tight for time. Finally, a lot of other people on the plane will be coming in on connecting flights from all across Europe so the airlines are aware of it and will be more accommodating than a short haul flight. There is normally plenty of slack in the schedule that can be made up if the plane is a bit late taking off.

you'll be fine, provided the computers aren't down at check-in so they can't print your boarding passes for your connecting flight, and then the plane gets delayed, and when it arrives, gets put at the gate furthest from the transfer desk (which has a long queue), and then when you get to the next terminal and through security turns out the gate is in a satellite terminal with estimated 25min transfer time on the signs and you've just heard the final boarding call for your flight... (I did make it, but could only communicate with the airline staff in gasps, wheezes and nodding head when I made it to the gate, to everyone's amusement - kudos to BA staff, I was handed a glass of water as I boarded the plane and collapsed into my seat)

Started reading this reply and thot ha ha what a joker. But your serious arent you!!!. WTF . I sat looking at Manchester deperatures live on Sunday and every single flight left late (some hours and hours late). Ive know looked into trains and buses down to H/row but cos a few people are there running, cycling, swimming etc (olympics) my fare to Oz is the basically the same as travelling Yorkshire to London on any means of public transport. As for getting a hotel room, even a airport one, no chance!!. All in all i didint time this well did i

I wouldn't worry too much, I use Heathrow all the time and have never had an issue. If anything, that particular experience is testament to the fact that even when everything goes wrong, you'll probably still make the flight, with a a story to tell... And if you don't if it's a connecting flight on the same ticket, you'll be looked after and put on the next one.

I've flown a couple of times recently with BA through LHR with transfers between T5 / T3 with a similar 2 hour-ish transit time. I have always reached the gate before they started boarding, with a little time to spare! It's not very well organised, so I've usually had to wait a little for a bus between terminals and the security into T3 didn't seem very efficient although it wasn't terribly busy. You should be fine if you head straight there and ignore the shops!
