Taking food onboard aircraft??
This has probably been asked loads of times but I have searched and can't find the answer.
Can I take small sealed boxes of cereal onboard for my 4 yr old? I know you can take food you have purchased once in departures but not sure about food purchased elsewhere.
Many thanks

I have had a look on the following website: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAn...avel/DG_176922
If it was counted as baby food it says yes. It does say check with the airport or airline if you are not sure. Sorry I can not find a certain answer but hope that link helps a little.

You should be fine with food, you wont be able to take liquids through security though, but you can buy it, if needed, after security
Just remember to declare it if you have any left at the arrival destination

We did. Cornflakes and rice krispies and something else, Cheerios or something. And a small plastic bowl and spoon to put it in. Cabin crew gave us some milk but son also likes to eat them dry. Our son woke before they served breakfast and was hungry as soon as he woke so having some cereal worked well.
Fresh fruit and stuff would be iffy but packed boxes of cereal should be fine.
If you think about it they let you into Aus at the other end with food from the UK. Plenty of people take biscuits, crisps and more in to Aus. So long as you declare when landing otherwise you could lose it and face a fine.

When we went to Perth the sniffer dog knocked on us, we had to join another queue, I said to my wife .... What have you brought that you shouldn't have? She said ... Nothing, we got to the front and they said, if you have anything declare it now, I looked at the wife, her face and brain was blank. Again they said, have you any food? Or any fruit? The wife blurted out, I brought some apples from back home, I could have put my hands round her neck at hearing this. She took them out of the case and they we almost black, I was in total shock. They gave us a telling hoff and said next time, you will be fined ........ We laugh about it now.

i thought you had to bin ALL food and drink when going through security? Or is it just drinks?

Oh yeah, have they now lifted the 100ml liquids restriction? As it'd be really good to take a bit old bottle of water on the plane with me! Being given water in small plastic cups isn't really doing it for me!

Its just liquids over 100ml that you have to get rid of, you have to declare or bin food once you get to Oz, and you are not allowed to take any food off the plane

No, the over 100ml is still on place going through security, once you are airside though you can buy a bottle of water to take on the plane

You can take a bottle on board the plane. You just can't take them through the initial big security check after you've checked in. The smaller one before boarding is fine to have drinks as you've bought those past security in the departure waiting area.
