Anyone tried to take two prams ?

I have a four year old and a 2 year old, the baby obviously needs his pram in the hold as I have to take that one with me, but the 4 year old is not going to appreciate being woken up at midnight to transfer at Dubai and I could really do with putting her in a pushchair too.
There's no way I can spare the baggage allowance but would it be possible to take two prams in the hold, has anyone with little kids done this ?
      Many thanks
Ps I have paid for seats for both of them.

I think Dubai has strollers you can borrow at the gates, but otherwise give Emirates a call and see what they advise (I assume they're who you're flying with). I'm not sure I'm afraid :)

Does anyone have a spare instruction manual for a baby girl?

There were loads of strollers at the gates in Dubai when we passed thru. You just grab one and go. They are only basic strollers, but enough to get from one gate to another. My little boy was 18mths when we travelled, and we put his pram in the hold coz you have enough to think about and carry without waiting for your pushchair to catch you up. We flew with Emirates.

What the others have said, there will be strollers at the terminal. Just ask one of the crew for one you before you depart and they'll get someone one the ground crew to go grab you one.

FWIW, depending on the flight, the pushchair may be checked in the hold anyways and you won't get it back till Aus. I'd just use the strollers at the airport personally and not bother with trying to get one in the cabin.

I wouldn't bank on the strollers being there at Dubai. Last time we passed thru they had all gone.
Don't judge even if you've walked a mile in their shoes. They haven't walked in yours yet!

If you have two children of buggy using age and two adults able to push it will be fine. We have travelled to Hong Kong, Thailand and Oz several times with 2 buggies and never had issues.

I travelled with 2 children last time with emirates and arranged a meet and greet service so there was someone waiting for me at the gate and helped me through security etc. I was travelling on my own mind you with a 1 and 2 yr old so if there were 2 adults not sure you would need this. There were heaps of prams the few times I have flown through Dubai. Good luck

Yep they did with me - had to haul them all through customs/passport control until I got to the luggage and could pick up my pram. Was a nightmare trying to hold onto 2 kids whilst hoping the pram came off first so I could put them in it and then collect luggage. Very luckily I had a very kind gentleman who saw me obviously struggling and helped me. This is with me asking the airline and airport beforehand for assistance. I flew emirates. I wish you lots of luck! A couple of weeks after it is just a distant memory though so you will get through it!!!

Yes. We have. It really does depend on the airline. Something like a P&T is bigger than a fold flat stroller so will most likely go in the hold. And depending on changeover time (if stopping longer than a 45 minute refuel) they nay not get it back to you till baggage claim in Aus. You won't get it back on disembarking, as it's gas to come out of the hold. Usually via the outsized baggage claim area. This can be there the same time as your bags are going round on the carousel or take longer.

If you have a small stroller that really folds flat they may take it into the cabin do you get it back when leaving the plane but they are under no obligation to do this. We had one flight with BA and Qantas and BA let us bring it on board and stored it in a cupboard do we had it round Singapore airport for a few hours. Qantas for the next leg made us check it into the hold and we got it back after our luggage was collected. Going the other way one time from Aus to UK, Qantas check in would not even let us have it till the gate and insisted it went with our checked baggage from check in and we were told we could not have it back till we landed in UK. Not even allowed to have if labelled to grab at Changi for our stopover.

Mg advice, plan for the worst case scenario and anything else is a bonus. Also invest in a sling for your youngest do you have hands free for your oldest. Also grab a stroller at your stopover airport to use. Get the cabin crew to call ahead and have one waiting at the gate if you can.
