My family is moving to Brisbane till at least the end of the year (we actually hope it will be longer) - we are renting a house in Balmoral/Bulimba and my husband is already there. he is working at Queensland Gas. My six year old daughter Isabella and I are arriving on the 16th September. It would be great to help introduce Isabella to some new friends of similar age, if anyone is up for a meet-up? Izzy will be attending St Peter and Paul School, Bulimba.

Just a quick reminder that there is a PIO meet tonight (3rd Sept) at 7pm at the Buderim Tavern, Buderim (of course).

As you enter the car park from the main road go into the Tavern by the doors on the right hand side of the building (Sports Bar - but no pokies, called sports bar because it has a couple of pool tables.
Go straight through to the back room (enclosed verandah) and there will be a table for us which would seat about 20 persons and also bar menus on the table (bar food very good)

When you enter the Tavern from the main road and there is no parking spaces, turn right, then left at the end, down the slope to the overflow carpark.
Park up then walk up the stairs at the back. Turn left at the top of the stairs and into the sports bar.

Hope to see many of you there (children also welcome)

As we are new, here is a bit about me and the wife. We are a young married couple from east yorkshire (Bridlington) and as you can gather we are looking to move to OZ.

My wife is a Beauty therapist and as for me I gained my engineering apprenticeship in the army working on all sorts of kit, after getting married I left and work currently for a pump engineering company. We have our own house which each month gets me more depressed and the bank of RBS more happy, and currently split our time from home duty's to for the wife socialising and for me ether scuba diving or taking long walks up ridiculously big hills.

I wouldn't say we have blindly looked at this great step in our life's, but there is only so much information you can gain from brochures and TV before it all gets tourism bios. We are looking to visit OZ for a three week stay, hopefully be able to live as though we would normally (not hotel or B&B) possibly rented accommodation.

I have signed us up to this site as most do, to get help and information from people that have actually done this move and who live there now. We are not 100% on which area we would like to move to as yet, I believe that would come down to work availability. If along the way we can gain some pre move friends in the same situation all the better for us, we love socialising, having a laugh and best of all the famous BBQ don't go amiss with us.

Anyone wishing to join us for a meet on Friday 3rd September at 7pm is more than welcome.

We are meeting in the Buderim Tavern (Burnett Street) and if you go in the right hand doors at the Tavern you will be in what they call the Sports Bar (not where pokies are) and straight out the back on the internal verandah, a table will be set up for us with menus for the bar food which I can definately recommend.
