Smile Teaching in Brisbane

Hi guys, just wanting to see if there are any of you who are teaching out here and how you find it compared with home? My dad is looking to get back into it. He is registered but now needs to apply to the state or find some supply work or maybe even teach in a private school. Any thoughts are advice?

Thanks

Fil

I've been here since Nov. I'm primary trained, registered with Queensland College of Teachers (right old rigmarole) and Queensland Catholic Teachers for supply or contract work. I still do not have a job, nor have I been offered any supply! There are a few jobs out there but they seem to be in Whoop Whoop (back of beyond) or part time. What is your Dad hoping to teach? There seem to be more jobs in secondary schools, but then they are going to be more subject specific. There are tonnes more private schools so it'd definitely worth looking into them.

Thanks for that, yeah, my dad's subject is English at secondary level. They are few and far between, especially considering that they expect you to teach more than your specialist subject. I'm a history teacher, so am not looking forward to getting back into it when I have to, does not seem promising at all. How are things going for you otherwise?
