Question School Dilemma

Hi All
We have a dilemma with regards to our 15 year old son
He will be turning 16 in Oct 08 we dont know when will be the best time to move out to Perth do we let him do his GCSEs here next May 09 then move or would it be best to move out latter half of this year so he is at school in OZ for start of term in 2009.
We also have a 13 year old daughter but dont believe her schooling will be an issue.
Any help much appreciated

Hi..at the time of moving our kids were 15 and 12...The 12 year old came out earlier with her dad and had no problems settling into school even though it meant her going back to primary school for a 6 months..She is now at high school and still loving it here.
I waited until our 15 year old finished year 10 to follow on..I got everything ready for them to take, made a folder of all thier school reports and achievements and once here took them to the school..They wasnt interested in seeing them..I was a bit concerend about our son not having his GSCEs but to be honest if you are thinking of definately staying then your child wont need his GCSEs at they are not recognised here..it wont help him get a job..I am glad we bought our son here before his english exams as now he has 2 years to concentrate on the Australian equivalent and is doing fine..

The most important thing is to get him started at the final two years of schooling because that is when the cumulative program begins and leads to a university entrance score (if that is where he wants to go). No one here gives two hoots about GCSEs but if there is a chance that he will ever want to go home for education then, yes, they will be important.
