perth high schools 6th form etc help

please could someone help, have a 16 year old daughter who is due to start 6th form in september, but we are now prob coming to perth in dec jan. do i start her and pull her out, or do i wait till in perth and start her. A levels are important, but the thought of waiting another 2 years to go live our dream is prob aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

We have a similar problem and would be interested in hearing from anyone who can advise what is available for our equivalent 'A' levels? Does the HSE work on a similar basis where they can specialise in certain subjects or do they continue with learning 8 or so.

If you know where you want to live, why not contact a couple of the high schools and ask them about their system/subjects etc. They also may be able to set her up with a pen pal who she can email/msn and find out more.

My daughter started high school in UK in september and will be in her last year of primary here in Aus (but still year 7), she's been chatting for a good few months to someone who will be in her class, they've met since we arrived and she's been chatting to other new school friends on msn. It's made the whole settling in process much easier, she can't wait to go to school.

Arriving January has been good for us, as the school year starts on the 31st, my daughter will get a full year in before high school and it's given her the chance to meet and socialise with her new friend before she starts her first day.

thank you for your reply, i will contact some of the schools. sounds a great idea to do the msn between future class mates, thanks again. i will let everyone know how i get on.

Hello there,

This may not be relevant but:

1. Like advised, try asking high school direct or we have access to the state schools desk via International office of the WA Dept. of Education (DET).
2. Transfers are fine....timing can be tricky with different academic year timing, but the DET will know exactly re. UK students.
3. There are alternative university pathways, e.g. after year 10 anybody can enter the TAFE (Technical and Further Education) or Vocational Education & Training (VET) system. From TAFE there are pathways to university 2nd year (or 1st) so university applicants do not need to enter direct from school (and TAFE fees for Australians are cheaper than university)

THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, THAT IS SO HELPFUL I HADNT REALISED ABOUT THAT, AND OBVIOUSLY WANT IT TO BE CHEAPER.
