Shipping car/stuff over to Sydney

Hi guys, has anyone shipped their car over to Oz? Thinking of shipping ours from London to Sydney and wondering how much roughly it costs? Did you ship other stuff at the same time, if so how much was that? Many thanks, Amelia

Hi, We are thinking of taking both of our vehicles. We have had prices to sell them in the UK but will loose so much it is cheaper to take them. We have been quoted between £5k & £6k, to ship out both, but can also use the space in the container for other items. Just need to find out how much insurance will be in Oz, as they will both be classed as "imports" i think.

Loads of posts will give you advice....but check the specifications of the Aussie version of your vehicle. If anything is on spec and not on yours..."they" can ask for modifications to bring it into Aus Spec.

I was checking on a Volvo ..thinking the model is distributed /made worldwide.... in our chase, the choice of teh cost of shipping and related propblems offset againt selling ..and losing out to bandit dealers - and using the cash to buy here pushed to selling.
Good news is the car market here is depressed and they are doing some great new car sales deals.

Another aspect to consider is insurance...you will pay more on a private import and selling it could be a problem if its thought there may be a problems with spares.

You can do a search and pull up the Aussie dealers in your chosen city.
Most big sales outfits run a franchise for all models. For example, Col Crawford have
"Col Crawford BMW" "Col Crawford Holden". There are others.

Any car coming into Aus is expected to be cleaner than the day it rolled of the line.
If they even think there is any mud unde teh wheel arch traps.... clean and fumigate job and you will pay!

Does that quote just cover the shipping or does it include the other costs of importing a car too.

Oh and how did you get the customs value? Did you have this before you decided to export or did you have to pay for a valuation once it arrived in Oz as the customs site seems to say - that would leave you with no idea how much you would have to pay!

Thinking of taking a 07 plate Audi TT roadster as love it and vv expensive to buy in Oz.
