Blair or Maggie.
Who did more to destroy the Britain you were used to.Did things improve when they came to power,as they promised.Personally,i think Blair completely finished off a lot of peoples pride in their nation, with his 'lap dog'kowtowing to the Worlds greatest political idiot .Also his swanning around the world whilst paying little attention to the disaster that was unfolding in his own back yard.Immigration out of control and also Law and Order. No doubt some will disagree.

Thatcher. But they're both essentially useless. Not a job I'd like to do though, it relies on a supportive, united, cohesive team around you, something Blairs Labour never had

I don't think either of them 'destroyed' anything, people are individuals and a PM can't change the way they think, it they can then the people involved are weak minded. Did Blair have anything to do with our crime here ?

I'm one of Maggie's "children" having had my formative years during her terms in office.
The woman was incredible, made some tough decisions then stuck to her guns, didn't bow down to the unions and also took care of British subjects in the Falklands. The inward investment she created in the UK is much of what little manufacturing the country still has.
There are always losers under any government but Blair repeatedly screwed over the working man (and woman) through back door tax rises to increase the public sector by ridiculous, unsustainable levels (and I'm not talking about front line services like the NHS) and pay for the benefits culture that is rife in the UK.
And he got away with taking the country into an illegal war. No wonder "Bliar" is such a coomonly used name.
If there is a hung parliament today and a new vote can we entice Maggie out of retirement?
I wouldn't vote for any of the current incumbents which is fortunate as I didn't sort out my postal vote in time!

Why do I keep hearing comments like 'investment she created in the UK is much of what little manufacturing the country still has.' The UK is the 6th largest manufacturer in the world, no mean feat for such a small place. I realise it may be small compared to the heyday but still the UK is a major manufacturer.

Hi Chris
I think the difficulty is the big, visible parts of maufacturing like the car industry. Personally, I'm a child of Maggie Thatcher's era as well - and I think that this does colour one's thinking because the impressions are formed when one is very young.
I was shocked by Britain's behaviour under Blair's rule but I am horrified by the way that the country has gone to the dogs under Brown. I don't want him or New Labour to win this Election, even though I think that Cameron and Clegg are even stevens in hopelessness as well - both of them.
Rumour seems to be that if the Tories get in, they then plan to kick Cameron out and to get William Hague back. Has he improved over the years? I seem to remember that he was kicked out because he was too young, too clueless and too boring? However Ffion might have improved him greatly over the years - dunno.
Personally I'd be more inclined to bring Ken Clarke back. I know he is about 78 but he still seems to be pretty energetic and he seems to have zipped up his fondness for Europe?
Cheers
Gill

Yes he did.He ensured criminals were not dealt with harshly, getting apt punishment for the crime commited.

Sorry, HERE is Australia. I was wondering if Blair had anything to do with our softening stance with regard criminals.
