thanks ian that sounds like a good way to go---its like getting the body to expect a little at a time,and not putting it into shock mode.

I was going to pack in once,when things were less stressfull,i stopped buying bifters and bought a little tin of those skinny cigars(hamlet is it?)and got down to just having two a day,i'd just have a few drags on one and then tab it for later,it was working for me,but then i started the emigration process

Give it up mate best thing you will ever do, i did 16 years ago when my oldest was born never smoked since its easy , now the drink ? well am a Scots man so i have to drink its expected

we must not go of thread with this important issue sharky--but on a personnel note it just has to be easier for women to give up smoking more than men, giving up smoking in my view is easier when you have no stress in your life,and for women who are stress free all the time its got to be a doddle to give up the fags---thats why this thread is aimed at the poor long suffering male members of pio.whoops there goes me thread.

Quit smoking 28 years ago; smoked 60/day and quit "cold turkey" as the saying goes.

The knack is to WANT to give up.
