To drink or not to drink - that is the question!
I am an Australian lass living in the UK (8 years now) and my english boyfriend has just got his defacto visa and we are moving to OZ in the next 2-3 months.
What I noticed in London was the big pub drinking culture and my boyfriend is an experienced lager drinker (in the nicest way of course!)
My question is - when people move to OZ who are originally from the UK, do you tend to go to pubs as much or do you take advantage of the outdoors and bbq's etc?
Been so long that I have lived in OZ I completely forget!!!

Beein in a pub once in 15 yrs...............once was enough. Drink like a fish at home on the patio though

I think the young ones still go out drinking, mainly in the city, people in the outer suburbs tend to entertain with BBQ's.
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.- Unknown

Why would you keep a fish on the patio???

Oz is an Anglo-Celtic culture living on the hottest driest continent. I'd say we've got a damn good excuse to hook into the turps with gusto!!

It's funny my BF is exactly the same, all he does is drink, but then around here that is all you can do, apart from watch the telly! We have both said that we don't want that lifestyle anymore as there will hopefully be more opportunities for us however I wonder if he will manage well once the beer sweats come........

If its friendly atmospheric pubs you are trying to get away from then Australia is 100% the right Choice

There don't seem to be any 'pubs' as such here in Perth. Bars yes...themed 'English' imitation pubs yes..with less atmosphere than a typical Magalup British bar. If there's one thing England does right it's the 'Pub'
As for us we didn't do pubs much anyway so I don't really miss it...would be nice to have an afternoon drive stopping off at a country pub on the way but hey I live in Australia now so I'll sup my cardboard box wine in my back yard with the rest of them
and OH will continue his vain search for a decent Aussie 'beer' till he finally admits defeat and brews his own...
