Just as a little distraction really.
Once all this visa malarkey is out of the way, imagine your first full day / night in Oz.
What do you intend to do?
and for those already there....
What did you do?
Thanks
Emma

Oz is Beautiful, but the uk is home
Returned to Bournemouth 20th August 2010
When I went to Australia in 2006 I spent the first 4 hours in the airport waiting for luggage/security clearance/taxis... then 2 hours getting to the hotel and checking in... then 15 hours of straight sleep with no one waking us up... then we woke up to an alarm which went on for 2 mins saying 'WAKE UP WAKE UP ... IT'S BREAKFAST TIME AT WAKE UP HOSTEL COME AND GET YOUR BREKKIE' ... I swear if i had found that guy i would have kicked his butt haha!
So basically it was a horrible 24 hours in Australia... it wasn't until day 2 that we actually went exploring and even then I was too tired!
Damn Jet Lag! x
Our first night was weird...once we'd arrived at our accommodation, we were shattered from the journey so we went straight to bed at around 8pm and slept until the jet-lag kicked in and we were up eating lasagne at 4am! It lasted just over a week. Joy.
Well, pretty much the same as the other "already here" posters.
Our arrival time got us to the hotel in the early evening--we'd treated ourselves to a couple of nights in a luxury place in downtown Brisbane while we organised a holiday let, hire car and the like.
So...upon arrival it was a quick shower (planes and airports always leave me feeling sticky!), a light snack and a couple of beers from room service...THEN the sleep that everyone else was talking about.

We went to the pub... in Northbridge because it was just around the corner from the youth hostel we stayed in. It was wet and cold when we arrived!
TackleBox - Fishing Australia stuff.
when we arrived we were picked up by my OH mate, we went back to his house where we were staying, it was about 11.30pm, we had something to eat and a lovely brew, put the kids to bed and sat up chatting for a couple of hours. The next day we set about sorting out THE MEDICARE STUFF, REGISTERING AT THE DOCTORS oh diabetic SO needed to get things in place, WE also started searching the internet for a car and some where to live, so we were very busy.We arrived on the 1st Dec and moved into our rental on the 16th Dec, WE HAD ALL THE FURNITURE TOO DELIVERED ON THE SAME DAY AS WE ONLY SHIPPED PERSONAL BELONGINGS, Good job as our stuff only arrived three weeks ago we sent it on 3rd Nov hoping it would of arrived just after we moved in .We spent two full weeks organising furniture and sorting out kids schools , uniforms , apart from that ive been ill since arrived and had to keep going up and down the hospital so we have had no time to be going out (ENJOYING) OURSELFS.At least now we can slowly start to enjoy life here in AUSTRALIA
LIFE IS FULL OF CHANGE ................. Well that just makes me appreciate my life a whole lot more.......... & moving to oz & giving my children a better start in life! ♥♥♥♥ living on the Gold Coast now and very happy
Pick up a slab of V.B and sink a few
Love this thread - it will take my mind off worrying about whether our house sale is going to fall through!
Not sure how we'll get from airport to in-laws, but once we get there I think it'll be a large mug of tea and lots of catching up! I'm hoping to get lots of sleep on the plane, in which case we'll have enough energy to go for a walk - preferably on the beach.
At some point we'll see my brother-in-law and hopefully our nephew and nieces.
I know we'll eventually crash - and collapse into bed with tired grins on our faces!
