If you don't go after what you want, you'll never have it. If you don't ask, the answer is always no. If you don't step forward, you're always in the same place...
If you get a chance, take it, If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy they just said it would be worth it...

I've often seen the 'milk of human kindness' here in Tassie.

Shame about the British sense of paranoia though when someone offers to help

I must have just been unlucky then because at least 75% of the Aussies I worked with and met at social do's were loud mouthed bores with most of them having the intelligence of a jelly-fish and would just gigle when drunk trying to light each others farts, sorry if that upsets you but it is my honest opinion.

P.S no I am not sorry.

Aus is harsh varst unfogiving country in parts the Aussies have grown up that way inclined, not because they are better people than europeans it's because it's just the right thing to do if your mile's from any where.

We had been in Aus for less than a week," Just turned left from the Stuart Highway heading towards QLD from NT and we stopped to ask a bunch of youngsters if all was well as they sat by the side of the road bonnet up.

My mate cronked out between Mount Isa and Cloncurry bonnet up did any bugger stop No.

While traverling the outback we were advised not to stop if we see anyone laying in the road injured or Dead. just drive round them even if we were hours from anywhere.

Like anywhere in this world there is good and bad.
The Fella who stopped for Eddie was just a decent Human being who could have been any nationality in any counrty.

Most of us I'm sure would stop to help even for someone with a Large chip on their shoulder

I hear ya Essex ! Of Course Oz varies from state to state even suburb to suburb. Gary tells me when he was in Katherine it was Badddddd ,lol , so i can see what your saying but Eddie wasnt in the outback and nor am i , the aussies i see/speak with will happily go out of there way to help, i was gobsmacked by their generosity when i arrived.

I think the reason some of us are 'dubious' when offered help is because of where we are from and what we have grown up with, watched on the news, or for some ,even been victims of , unfortunately you do get a sense of Paranoia and it doesnt disappear just because you step off the plane onto Aussie soil ,as with anything it takes time to adjust and you have to learn for yourself that every offer of help doesnt carry a 'catch'.

      Exactly!!!

Don't you think its a shame?

Isn't it one of the reason's people leave the UK?

My husband still struggles with it, same with offering assistance, usually tells me not too. Although being in Tassie is helping him to mellow
