Don't know the cost to get over here now, but in '73 at just under 40 years old, we, husband, myself and 3 kids came over for twenty pounds all up!!!
What does it cost now????
One of the famous £10 poms then!
My husband parents did the same thing in 1970 ( he was born there in 1971).....didn't stay though.........although it has given us the golden ticket to go now........still saving the pennies, think about £5k ( including the cat!)
My parents were 49 and 50 when they came finally to Australia via Africa and NZ and I was grown up. I also know a Brit couple who lived in NZ came over here with four boys in their fifties and then returned to NZ and started again late fifties and they are doing fine.
Age is just a number its who you are and how you feel. You can be old at 30 with attitude and young at 80.
My mum is nearly 90 and she thinks she is young says she is in the head just the body has changed.

Hi Good on Ya,
We are both 58 and have our Visa and can't wait to get to Aus it is just a number we are young enough to work and enjoy the lifestyle Aus has to offer, there are a lot of Older peope on PIO going, I admire all of you with children making the move to give everyone a better life and if we can do it just before retirement age so should you if you want something badly enough it will come right in the end, " Hope this works for someone to buy our House I keep hoping"

Just as a matter of interest, who has made the decision to move to Oz coming up to or just past 40 years of age.
I want to see have many people are like me have reached that age and felt things needed to change.
Hi
My Oh and me are both 42 and have 3 girls, 18, 19 and 22. OH has been here in Melbourne for 4 months and myself and girls for 6 weeks. We are getting on great, girls all have temp jobs. At the moment i'm not working but plan to get part time work when girls are more settled. We plan to give ourselves a year to decide how we feel. So far so good!

well I too am in the mature age group but ever so young at heart, love it here, working and making the most of it all. My hubby and I are a bit older than 40 though so maybe to old for this gang
