Well, hand me the paracetamol!!!!! We had a wine tasting party last night. It started out that it was going to be Mark and me. By the end of the night there were three more couples and a couple of singles too!!! The funny thing was the wine guy was late! His previous party was a little OTT for him I think and there were loads of people there!!!!! He was an hour late so by the time he got to us we were all getting very tanked up!
It was a brilliant evening and I reckon the guy got about $1000 worth of business from our house. Over $300 was mine anyway! LOL! We had drank before he arrived. Tried every wine that he bought and drank when he left! We had bought some dips, cheeses, crackers and breadsticks and it was fun!
I cannot believe that it is the 1st August. Where has the year gone? For those of you that havent caught up with Caz lately she is still trying to sell the house! The housing market is pretty dismal and they are not having a grand old time! Still, as I keep telling her and Dad they WILL get here! Just horrible when life is on hold!
Dont worry Mum, will get the wine guy back when you two are here! Let you guys top up our wine fridge!!!!!!
-To all those waiting for VISAs, good luck and it will come. -To all those waiting to leave, enjoy your time with friends and family before you go -To all those already here............Good aint it!!!!

Jo, you are like a breath of fresh air, always so positive, it is so encouraging for all those waiting to get there, just want to say, thanks and I hope your mum & dad get a buyer real soon
Top up your fridge from the Wine Guy - no way not at those prices. It will be a bottle stop top up, don't forget we are on a pension and not rich like you guys.
Our house price is now down to what we paid for it 4.5 years ago and by the time we pay Agents Fees + VAT, Removals and flight tickets, a house when we get there and a car we will be well out of pocket.... us poor pensioners will need looking after by you guys hehehehe so no doubt it won't be wine but a lager shandy for us old 'uns...............
Hi jo,
Really enjoyed reading your post. You are always such an inspiration to those of us who have not got their yet!
Really hope your parents are soon with you, life will be perfect then!

Thank you very much for your kind words. Everyone on here knows that it is no secret that I cant wait to be with them again! Havent seen them for almost three years!
I always think that in Australia, life is as hard or as easy as you make it. If you put yourself out there and go get it, you`ll go far. Aussies say it like it is too which is just like me!!!!
You`ll get here Pottsy. It seems like it takes forever and then all of a sudden you are buying plane tickets. I still didnt really take in everything we were doing until we landed! Then it was a case of "oh my god!!!!!"
Still I have been here for 4 years next Feb and life is still as good as Day 1. We still smile as we walk around the city, we still laugh as we look at the view from Mt Coot-tha and when someone says "would you go back to live in UK" we still say NO!!!!!!

"POZZIE" - HAPPY AND LOVIN` IT
Well, I have swapped shifts today to do someone at work a favour and it sure feels weird being at home alone!!! Normally Mark and I have every thursday/friday off together! This week I will be working Thursday so it has thrown us out!!! Still the dishwashers done, washing is out and just the lounge to vacuum (when I get off of here!) and the rest of the day is mine! But I have to drag myself away from PIO first!!!
Its a gorgeous day today, crisp and a bit chilly but hey, I have only just got up! I slept last night from 22.30 until 09.00 this morning, with a small break when Mark got up at 05.00 for work! Didnt take me long to go back to sleep I can tell you.
I have been hearing this week from my 17 year old cousin who is in Italy with his family. How technology has changed. He has MSN on his mobile and was talking to me from 1/2 way up an Italian mountain!!! How did we ever manage without mobile phones!!! He seems to be enjoying himself although I reckon his phone bill is going to be huge. He has been dating his girl since christmas last year and is missing her like mad!
We remain anxiously awaiting Mum and Dad selling their house. As soon as it is sold they are on their way. A problem like they are having only serves to turn the Visa process into a nightmare! Once you get the Visa it should be a celebration, instead it has turned into another hurdle! The housing market is bad everywhere apparently in the UK so good luck to all of you trying to sell.
Work continues to go very well. Mark is driving for Brisbane City Council and still loves every minute. I am regaled nightly with stories about the crazy people that he has driven around! Mind you , I regale him nightly about the crazy people that I look after too! I love my job here and have loved it more and more. I much prefer it to the UK nursing. Even though I do more paperwork here and less hands on, I love it! I am working with a wonderful group of people who make the day much better. My immediate supervisor is also English and we both "work the same way" which makes the day much better! As usual with nursing goes all the unpaid overtime. I had done mandatory training a few weeks back and my manager arranged time off in lieu for it. Great!!! I was due to finish at 1315 yesterday but left after 2!!!! The good thing is now, that this doesnt happen much in my job as there is always someone to relieve you plus we have such an adequate handover time that there really is no way you should leave late!!!
Marks Mum Sheila arrives on 4th September for 8 weeks. I am so looking fwd to seeing her. Every time she comes we always think that it may be the last time but she amazes us. She is on disability and this will be the second time that she has made the trip alone and unaided! She is such a star! We havent told her yet but we booked the theatre for the week after she arrives. We are going to see My Fair Lay at the QPAC in Brissie. I saw it many moons ago in London on the South Bank. Back in the days when Martine McCutcheon was supposed to be Eliza Doolittle. She wasnt there when we saw it but the understudy was great. She actually went on to do Mary Poppins in London! I just remember my cousin beating me on the back of my head shouting "I know this one, Can I sing it too". How do you tell a youngster that they cant sing!!!!
Years later I took that same youngster to see Les Miserables in London. It was kind of a treat for me and Billy (he was about 12 at the time). Billy had done the Les Mis songs in Drama and really wanted to see the show! So I got a deal with a london paper. I paid full price for my ticket, his one was free AND he got to eat free in Planet Hollywoods! Everyones a winner! We got our drinks and sweets and made our way to our seats. I had given Billy the lecture that he could not sing. He was to be quiet when watching! Well, me being a Les Mis addict was tapping, clapping and singing before the end of the first song. He tapped me on the shoulder and said " You have to behave please. You told ME not to sing!!!" Funny the memories that doing something like this brings up!!!
Thanks for listening!

"POZZIE" - HAPPY AND LOVIN` IT
Well, Mum and Dad have finally sold their house! I am so happy! It has been on the market since May and a sale had already fallen through after three weeks. Still the end is nigh for them and the next part of their rollercoaster journey begins.
Mum and Dad are leaving my little brother behind in the UK. Im not really sure what he thinks about everything as I have not caught up with him for ages!! Im sure that he is happy for them as it has been my Mums dream for 30 odd years but equally I am positive that he will miss them like crazy! That was the hardest thing with the move when we left, leaving people. Leaving the place....fine! Leaving people.....weird!!
We have both been working hard as we eagerly await Mum and Dads arrival. We have been finishing tiling our kitchen and next on the agenda is making our current junk room back into a bedroom!!! If Mum and Dad arrive when we think, then I will have mother and mother in law here at the same time!!!!
Someone else said on their diary that it doesnt matter how old you are, you still need your Mum. How true is that! You do! Its the little things that I cant wait for. Going food shopping with Mum, having a cuppa out with her, driving somewhere and showing her things that I didnt show her before, showing her my house! Mum and Dad are the only ones that have not stayed at our house!! Doesnt take much to please me!!
I am looking forward to Mum meeting all our friends that we have made since we got here. We have such good mates that stand by us through thick and thin. The kinda mates that if you dont ring for a few weeks its fine, if you ring every day its fine! The mates that you can ring for everything and anything!!!
All of you on here know how much I am looking forward to my parents getting here. People say I look like Mum and act like Dad. My brother looks like Dad and acts like Mum! A lot of you have got to know Mum on here. Let me just say, she is a special person as is my Dad! I cant wait to see them!
Thanks for listening!
