Yep you are right....apologies for going toooooo far....and off thread (Sorry Tim)...but in my defence...we don't win often.

Heading back in the right direction..Being called a POM if/when I get to Oz will be comparable to being the "Sweaty-sock" I am often refered to as down here in Swindon.

As it was said at the start by Tim.."in a social context"...anyone can call me what they want..after all...it is just words! (Sweaty-sock is the most printable of many "terms of endearment" I get called) and there is one person on here who can confirm that

O that's nice because I get "Haggis eating, kilt wearing hom / shirtlifter" every now and again.

So POM isn't all that bad afterall !

I can't believe we now have 2 votes for mildly offended & 2 for deeply offended!

If you're offended by the term Pom then you really shouldn't be looking at this BB, it's in the title for goodness sake!

You shouldn't really be thinking about coming to Australia period.

Those Australian guys really couldn't give a 4x for anything else. It warns you of this on the tele.

The only people referred to as Poms, in Australia, are the English. Mostly in a pleasant way, but sometimes not.

Doesn't bother me the other night a guy in the pub said " we are being outnumbered by poms''
so we offered to make him an honerary Pom.

when my lad first went to high school he was asked what his name was and he replied ''Pom''
