Hi,
Thanks Mutikonka and Yellowgecko your coments are much appreciated and taken on board.
I totally agree with you Yellow when you the reasons behind some of these things.
I think we are all capeable of materialistic greed when there are so many other things that are so more important.
Just like the people coming to this country for what they can't get in theirs (with this country it's probably the oppotunity of earning better than where they live), i believe that alot of people that move to Oz for what they can't get here.
Most are not going with rose tinted glasses but still believe that they can make much more use of their life than here under a less stressed out environment.
I'm like many others in Britain that work long hours and sit in mountains of traffic then pay out a massive percentage of their wages out in taxes directly and indirectly. Then after all that find that going out means A. Sitting in more traffic. B. Spending a fortune, normally more than it proves to be worth. C. Or the weather is s*** or a combination of all of these. So we decide to stay in to keep us entertained at home we spend fortunes on our castles to make us feel good.
We worry about the kids being out or we're frustrated when they're stuck in front of the playstation or computer(he says as he types away).
Yeh your right it is a global thing but it's down your throat here, whether it's because we live on top of each other or whether it's because the frustration at losing our identity and voice when so many others can walk into a country we do genuinly feel pride in and treat it, therefor us with no respect and get away with it. Alot of people here feel that working hard and keeping your nose clean gets you nowhere.
Eventually the world may all suffer the same but as yet it hasn't and because my priorities lie with my family and myself, Oz is what I can do about it. Leaving is hard but my life and my family's life will be better. Even if it is suffering the same things as everywhere else it still has much more to offer than here.
I know that even that some of my friends look at it sa if we are going to be living a life with more splendour than here, to some people these things will never change.
Sorry if i gone on a bit and sound like i've got a bee in my bonnet, honestly i haven't your views are more qualified than mine and they are just my views.
I really feel for first time we are making a dicision to improve our lives thro' our souls rather than thro' our so called comforts. Which really is what we were after all along, it's just very hard to achieve here.
Regards Keith
hi . keith. your comments are absolutely bang on the button, we live in a very nice house and area is quite nice too, but its the whole way of life here in good old blighty thats gone. You cannot even defend your home or family without the fear of being sued by the scum bags who try and violate it. Try and go to A&E any day of the week and not sit there for four plus hours. Our 3 and 4 year old kids cannot play in the street without being moaned at because some ex bank manager is scared that the sponge ball they play with might spoil her stripes in her lawn. immigration is on its knees now we've joined europe and our great scottish prime minister never even gave us a referendum on it. I.m fed up with working my ass off to pay for the free loaders who are already in this once great country and the ones on their way in. So even if oz has the same problems that we have here, at least we all can say that we,ve tried our best for our families. if everyone going to brisbane has the same beliefs that we have lets hope that its going to be as good as we think.
Love the saying ' starting a new life in Oz is going to be hard, but sadly not as hard as continuing here'. So true! Another good one i've read before is ' all the decent brits are leaving the asylum that the patients are now taking over. Sad but true!
