highs and lows

How do people cope with the highs and lows of the whole process?
I am so excited about the whole emigration business, but we are still not sure when we will go . Expecting the visa any day now-fingers crossed! Our house has just gone on the market but it seems that the housing market is almost dead. We can't afford to go without selling the house. We are aimimg to go some time between September and January.
Also we are not entirely sure where we are going. We are hoping for Brisbane as we know it and have family there, but it is all dependent on OHs job.
I feel as though I could cope with anything so long as I know what I have to cope with, but the uncertainty of everything is killing me
Is anyone else losing the plot with the stress of it all?
If I am stressed now how will I cope with the actual move ?
Help!!!!

I think what you are feeling is pretty normal ,i know i felt the same in shoes!! When your making such a big move its only normal to be anxious and worried,,it eases once you get on that plane and just gets better once you land ,,we have never looked back ,moving here was the best thing we did ,,keep smiling and good luck

Like Cal says, it is this stage that you feel it.

The move itself is an absolute breeze in comparison with what is going on now. The reason for this is that you know where you are going (brisbane) and have a plan of action for when you get there. It is the waiting in limbo that drives you mad.

Hi

You are definitely not alone! We are still waiting for our assessments to come back which were sent in Oct 07 and it is driving me absolutely crazy just waiting, particularly knowing I have heaps more waiting to do. Feel like I am in a constant limbo and to be honest this website has been a godsend for me because at least I know that there are others out there who are having the same frustrations.

Hope it all goes well for you and the house sells quickly (still have that to look forward) uurgh!!!

Equally as stressed and frustrated!

We had a job selling our house. It took 14 months, we only sold it in the end by dropping the price and under cutting all the other houses. Unfortunately it is a buyers market, people are asking to much for there houses. You may need to make a reduction maybe if you want to sell. People will buy if they feel they are getting a bargain.

Believe me, you are not alone. I think every single person goes through these emotions. We too are waiting for our house to sell and have just had to drop our price. Can't afford to drop it much more as we have a load of debts we need to pay. Plus the rate of the ozzie dollar isn't doing any favours at the moment!
My hubby is now in two minds about going and that emotional rollercoaster just don't seem to stop!!!

Good luck

Hello there! Highs and lows for sure. We are in the final stages of our visa, expecting it in the next few weeks. I secured my job back in July 07 and it has taken this long to organise paperwork etc. I couldn't count on two hands the number of times we have encountered hurdles that would have made a sane man scream but as time goes on we've learnt to roll with the punches! We have no expectations now and take it all in our stride. We have put our house on the market for the second time since last April, after a full refurbish. Sometimes it's easy to lose sight of why we are doing this or indeed what a huge adventure it promises to be. When I read some of the postings on the site from people that have made it to Oz and are actually happy, it inspires me to keep going. Reminding me that one day, that might just be us. I'm happy to compare note anytime! Good Luck!

thanks

Thanks everyone for your repies. It is a comfort to know other people are going through the same, and I keep telling myself that so many people wouldn't go through the whole process if it wasn't worth it.
Having said that, we have just had our first viewers for the house and that is scary!!!
We are expecting our visas to be ready any time now. We still don't know which part of Oz we are going to but are hoping for Brisbane.
Thanks again all who replied and good luck with your own adventures!
