Barclays they craze ya,

my ma & pa came to oz for 9 weeks holiday and before they came i suggested to mum that they contact barclays and let them know that they would be withdrawing monies from an aussie atm just in case they thought it was a baddie and stopped the card. So ma wrote to Barclays and had a reply, 2 weeks after being here in oz what happens - the flaming card wont work - so ma is on the phone in oz to barclays doing her nut !!! the reply from the woman at barclays was we cannot do anything you will have to go to your local branch - huh when im in oz (and they live in Spain) not many local branches about here in oz or spain come to that !!!!
So ma & pa ended up using their credit card for the remainder of their stay in oz and once arriving back at heathrow going into the nearest barclays with all guns a blazing

p.s. i am currently having troubles with one of my laptops (here in oz- only brought the dam thing in december ) so today called Compaq - as Office Works didnt wanna know, yep you guessed it i get put through to a Indian Lady in India (i checked with her her locatation) after 20mins on the phone i requested to speak to someone else as i was getting no where and coudnt understand what she was on about - but they all speak in the same tone
so know i am trying to hunt down the aussie side of compaq so i can converse without going pardon/you what every 30 seconds.
So i guessing that maybe many of the aussie companies re route to India too - oh what joy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[quote=Trakki;188662]I can't stand all this, you just want to 'speak' to someone human!!! Just as bad are the sales calls although I have worked them out now. I am currently trying to sell my car so when anyone phones to selll me something I start trying to sell them my car, I got one indian young man who was obviously reading from the screen so confused I thought he was going to cry, everytime they try to get me back onto the subject of what they are trying to sell I tell them something else about my car. I think that they are probably not allowed to hang up first as not one has hung up on me yet. I know they are only trying to do their jobs but they are sooo annoying and it keeps me amused for 5 mins!! :)
He He whar a brill idea!! Think I'll try that & if nothing else it give good telephone sales experience if looking for a job in tele sales!!

i work for virgin media and they have out sourced their faults department to india for both customers and staff. as lovely as the people who work in the call centres are and no matter how hard they try it can still be soooooo frustrating!!! I did speak to one person in india though who told me it is just as frustrating for them as like you say they r only trying to do their job.

also the people who work in the call centres are quite well educated and to work in a call centre over there is considered one of the better jobs - so they are not stupid its just a language barrier as annoying as it is!!!

deep breaths count to ten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A word from the other side of the fence... I have, on occasion, had to deal with the most vile, abusive people who then proceeded to try to make a purchase. Whilst utterly unprofessional, when making a transaction, I had the technology to approve or decline the transaction... If someone was a total ****hole, I kept processing the transaction (to waste their time and make the people behind them give him/her sideways glances) but pressed the button that would print a "declined" receipt, without the knowledge of the client. I derived a great deal of warped satisfaction in smiling sweetly and saying "I'm sorry, but I am unable to process the transaction. You need to refer to your service provider..."

I know this is a shocking admission on a public forum but, by God I enjoyed every one!!

Gill... In your case, give 'em Hell... I love your eloquence and superior knowledge of the law and your rights! Truly a woman after my own heart. Make sure you get the compensation, flowers and wine that the banks are currently handing out! You might have to ask for it, but hey! there is something curiously satisfying about sipping a decent Merlot with "Compliments of Barclays" on the accompanied by it!

Success!

New card arrived Thursday.

I viewed it with fear and suspicion, suspecting that I would blow a serious gasket if I ever tried to use it.....

Marched to the Branch, trophy in hand. Got a girl to come outside to the ATM machine with me.

It worked. Gave me the balance and let me draw cash.

Emboldened by this, I tried it in local convenience store this evening. It worked again.

THANK YOU, LORD

Still waiting to hear from Complaints with "the explanation", however.... within 5 working days....which have now been & gone.

Cheers

Gill

He he - I am so pleased that somebody else gets equally as frustrated as me with this type of thing. Glad you didnt just accept it and put the phone down, I never do either, the more you complain, waste their time and generally annoy the hell out of these companies, the more they may consider adopting better practices. Glad you now have your card.
