If it is air in your pipes............ you can get rid of the air by connecting a short piece of hose pipe to the hot and cold taps in the bathroom................ then turn both taps on and let them run for a while. It's an old plumber's trick from wayback.
The weird noise and the clunking or clanging sound and vibration you are getting is known as water-hammer.................. which could be caused by a variety of things?
Insufficient clipping of pipes was a common cause of water-hammer; also the wearing down of tap-washers. Water-hammer occurs usually if you were to suddenly shut off the flow of water like when using the dishwasher.......... a washing machine........ the ball cock rising rapidly in the toilet cistern........... or by merely closing a tap suddenly.
Shutting off the flow instantly causes pressure or shock waves to be sent throughout the system resulting in creaking, vibrating............ or even wailing (not quite like Bob Marley). In the UK we used to be able to fit a shock absorber............ it was like a coupling with corrugated rubber insert which in theory absorbed the shock through the rubber?
Down-under I think we call them water hammer shock arrestors.......... or summat like that............ I've even heard them referred to as water capacitors but I always thought a capacitor was an electrical thingy? Anyway.......... whatever the correct termonology is............. I'm pretty sure you can pick them up at Bunnings and suchlike?
Try the short piece of hose-pipe trick............. if that doesn't work............... you may solve the problem by replacing tap washers......... there is a special anti-water-hammer
absorbent spring loaded rubber washer on the market.
Good luck.
