      EPL On Demand

      Hi everyone,

I'm looking to get something sorted out to watch the English Premier League that starts this weekend.

      What i have:
      Unlimited broadband(dodo)
Laptop that i connect to TV to watch stuff

In the past i have tried to use the free streaming websites but with mixed results generally the picture quality is so poor its unwatchable.

      I found this while searching:
      http://www.eplondemand.foxsports.com.au
It costs $79 for the season, you can buy 9 days for $9 or a monthly pass for $19 but the season pass is the one that interests me. Has anyone used this before and how was it? Is it worth the money?

Otherwise can anyone recommend anything else for watching the games? I thought about Foxtel but i would really only be getting it for Football games so is not really worth the money.

      Cheers

      Sean

I haven't used that service myself...

How is your own broadband connection? Try streaming video at the time of day you will be watching it if you have the service...broadband performance can go up and down depending on load. For example, Optus is well known for slowing down to a snail's pace for overseas services after school hours...basically their connections to international sites are overcongested and when kids come home to play online games (most of the eservers are overseas) it all turns into smelly stuff. Don't know about Dodo, hence the need to try it at the right time of day. Try and stream a large video file.

If you are going to be watching during the night, you're probably OK...if it is going to be at weekends, you might find it a bit slower. Can you download in the background, save and then watch? This would run smoother, but wouldn't be live.

Have a look on www.whirlpool.net.au This is a great source of info for anything Oz ISP related. Some people there have had great experiences, others have been a bit hit and miss...video stuttering, audio dropping out etc. Most seem to be at least 12 months old though.

If anyone on here has been using it, I'm sure they'll be along to let you know how it went.

No idea about the things you are looking in to but they sound decent if they are legal/legit and giving proper coverage and decent picture etc.

I know we did a similar sort of thing online for 2 monts for the Ashes. A Sky deal in the UK. As soon as the Ashes ended hubby cancelled the order.

The EPL is on Sky in the UK so I don't think it'll be the easiest thing to watch if you want the actual UK coverage as its aired. It will probably involved some illegal streams online somewhere.

EPL Online from Fox Sports looks like a legitimate/legal service in Australia. Just not sure how well it actually works! Fox Sports used to promote it, but info is a bit thin on the ground from there website (last mention seems to be from 2010, but links to the site the OP found)

If you go to subscribe they have a streaming test you can try to see what the quality would be like. Again, try and do it at the time of day you would be most likely to watch...performance can vary during the day.
