Too Posh for .......... Clothes what do I do, do I, or donīt I

Here I go again, prolific in my postings this evening, the internet is working and my brain is on over drive, must be the wine, LOL
This is a funny one, what do I do, the other day this nice lady came up to me and said īnice top, I love the colours, they would suit me, they are my coloursī, I thanked her and told her where I had bought it, wanted to advertise because it is the shop were I am looking for a part time job.
Then she said ītoo posh for ...........ī, said she always liked to dress up since she moved here, what should I do? dress as the localīs do, in shorts, thongs and T shirts or try to make an effort, really confusing.
When I first moved to Spain I was a clothes horse, a UK size 6 but slowly slipped into the I canīt be bothered mode, do I do it here, or do I still stay smart....
What do you guys do / did ............ have you retained your style or have you adapted ..... curious

I am like you, happy to wear casual when indoors or in the garden, but always dress up to go out. Never go out without make up on.

I have always loved clothes, shoes and bags and love getting dressed up. I would not change no matter where I lived. I would be over dressed than under dressed.

I think I dress more casual, smart casual, here than I did in UK

I used to wear smart trousers, usually black with an untailored jacket for work. Here I wear more casual trousers and sometimes jeans, I never wear jackets, they are still hanging in my wardrobe but I don't think I will ever wear them again.

Don't think I will ever go completely 'local' could never wear my pj's to the supermarket.

I say dress as you want, how you feel comfortable, nobody else's opinion counts;0)

I still change when we go out to dinner into to something clean and smart (smart, casual) but I cannot remember the last time I 'dressed for dinner' and wore posh, dressed to the nines clothes. I suppose this is because we go out for dinner more regularly here and in the UK it was less usual and usually for special occasions.

Hope this waffle answers your question? LOL

I don't feel I've change much in the clothes I wear.

Maybe though my many coats which I love..... and insisted on bringing.....and have only worn 3 or 4 since I've been here!

      Silly weather!

My mum always told me ' you should never leave the house without wearing lipstick' and I do as I'm told.

I think each area/city has its own vibe when it comes to dressing up. So for example if you make the right kind of statement in Sydney, you certainly won't go unnoticed and unappreciated. I am saying this with 100% confidence.

I have no dress sense whatsoever, so I tend to stick to jeans/combats and a top or jumper. I only wear dark colours, such as black, grey, dark blue and khaki. Mostly black actually. I have recently started to wear more makeup, my skin has been awful for a while (hormonal) so I watched some great videos from a make up artist on you tube to show me how to apply it properly. I am always clean and tidy, which is important, but fashion doesn't interest me in the slightest.

The only thing I've changed is my shoes. I used to wear boots all the time in the UK and didn't own a single pair of sandals. Now I'm here, I'm always on the look-out for a new pair of sandals and my boots have been reserved for walking and cold weather.
