Very lovely thread. I love chance meetings with folk who open up their life experiences and you find out all sorts of things. I once met a man in his 70s, who from looking at him you would never imagine, but he regularly every year went off to northern spain and did the whole pilgrimage to Santiago. He did it the real way, no cheating, either on foot or horseback. He told me he did it every year since his wife died as it cleansed his body and mind. I thought this was a lovely thought and wish I could do it too someday....
Have just finished reading a book called Any Human Heart, it it based on the journals of one Logan Mountstuart. An amazing life, through the 1930's, war, and after. He was involved in art, literature, a spy, spanish civil war and met some incredible people by chance such as Hemingway, Picasso.... He went through riches and poverty, much like the man GothicRose met, yet lived a happy and dignified life. Made me think a lot.....
As to feeling frustrated, Tony, yes. I often feel as though I am living on a stage. If I didn't have family committments I would be away on the oceans with SeaShepherd or in Taiji for the dolphins. Maybe one day..... En-route via India and N. Spain
