Doom and Gloom.
Well its all over the news stations ................
Doom and Gloom ..................
It appears that the whole of the Eurozone is on the precipice of financial disaster and theres a huge panic today, the economists are on saying this is a black day for europe and Italy is on the brink of being the next country needing to be bailed out. The stock markets are down and the financial experts are saying that fear is gripping europe, with Spain closely following Italy.
Anyone know how it will efect us here in the uk?

I'm not sure - but the Aussie dollar is falling!

theres worse news to come
whilst typing ive just broken one of my finger nails--europes pretty well done as far as the collective goes--you cant keep giving money out willy nilly to countrys, and threaten to forclose that country, and give that country to the banks--or can you--perhaps it the only true way a pure capitalist world will survive
god help us--as far as the uk goes our interest are in america, and that looks scary

It will certainly affect us here, although our economy is good, people arn't spending, tourism is down. We are a little bit like USA, in that we need strong leadership. Looks like interest rates may fall before December. Overall though I feel safer here if there is a world recession coming.

I just get a bad feeling about what is going on ............. but the hysteria from the media is chronic, they are really causing a panic. A couple of weeks ago they said that pensions had gone up billions of pounds because the FTSE had gone up, today the headline is 50 billion pounds off pensions, because the FTSE has crashed ............ they are helping to create this panic and they are falsely reporting that the USA is heading into a double dip recession ........... they might be, but they just print doom and gloom. Australia will suffer less than most, the economy is still strong there.

Do we have the US ultra conservatives to thank for their recent brinkmanship, not to mention their handling of the economy while Bush was in office...extremes of anything are never good.

All the fanfares lauding Obama into office as potentially the greatest president elect since Kennedy have died down, he has been bogged down by the financial crisis and i like him, but his popularity has suffered and he might not get re-elected.
he's 50 today not much to celebrate.

Be quite ironic if an intelligent and moderate man got kicked out of office for a bunch of extremist fools even though it was the extremist fools who prevented things getting done....this is obviously their tactic and they don't mind playing with our lives to achieve it.

I was in the states for a month in 2008 when he was fighting for the presidency and it was like the second coming, they saw him as a god like figure ............ i don't think he is seen as that now ............ i still like him.

I still think he is a massive improvement on what they had. In a short time he has passed the first significant health reform for decades against massive opposition (many other presidents have tried and failed), passed a financial reform bill to improve the financial mismanagement bush let go rampant, initiated a big move towards decreasing the US reliance on corrupt regimes for their petrol, repealed the don't ask, don't tell laws and caught osama. He has an extreme opposition to deal with so not bad. The right wing media would have you believe otherwise.
