It was when I was about ten that someone started a rumour that the govt were offering a reward for funnel web spiders. Some sort of research they were doing. So - off we went into the bush. Unfortuneately we only managed to find one, and that got so mashed up trying to get it in the jar we figured it wouldn't be worth anything.

We used to be hoff all over the place, half a dozen of us, climbing trees, out over the fields walking for miles, no one had a tv, it was 1970, we were all poor, we went apple raiding, conker finding, playing footy and hide and seek, life was sure different for kids in those days.

I was drinking whisky haha kidding. I was probably still playing with my dolls at that age ( or is that too old!) and i was always running around with my friends playing chase. i was a skinny wee thing back then, i think i should get back to running around mad lol

Even tho it wasnt too long ago life was still completely different than it is for 10year olds now. Dave has a 10year old nephew who i babysit quite often, you wouldnt believe how much stuff he gets. hes so spoiled and doesnt appreciate it at all!

Ahhh, those were the days Rock,.

I would have been out with my mates, just messing really, jumping in the river, knock down ginger, 'baking' the bestest conker ever in my mums oven,.

Going up the side of the old 'treason' field and sneaking a ciggy,, bangers in cow pats, all in all having a laugh is all.

In the evening you would find me sitting in my room eating, breathing and thinking everything about fishing, then going out with my best mate Geoff, trying to put into practice what I had learnt.

      Cheers Tony.

I wasn't like other children, I wasn't into playing with other kids & desperately wanted to be an Artist & learn from adults . So my parents knew some Artists & they used to loan me out as a miniture helper. So at ten, I was allowed to help out in a bronze foundry where the adult Artists allowed me to do bits & pieces around the place. I actually helped picking out the wax from a fountain they were making to go in Hyde Park. & I also used to polish up little bronze statues. The Art training continued for many years school holidays & after school for many years. Various Artists helped me learn much at a very early age & I'm still happy to have had that oppotunity, I was rubbish at being a child but I was good at learning my craft.

I was out riding the first pony i ever owned, One which my dad had brought me and named rosie, it was the last gift he ever got me, as he passed away when i was 11, So that year i remember very well, god i use to get in so much trouble riding that pony, he often said it was the worst thing he had ever done by buying her lol

Don't get me started. I get it in the neck everytime about how everyone else's kids have a much better life because they have so much stuff. I do point out that they have laptops, ds, ipod, electric guitar, the list goes on - but apparently that's not enough. I then point out that their mummy and daddy are still married - but apparently this is a disadvantage, because you double your stuff when your parents split up. The materialism of the youth of today disgusts me. We had nothing when I was a kid, but I swear we were a damn sight happier.
