Do you have one of “those” faces

So, on our trip to the UK, we happened to have to go through a few airports.

      So, in order of travel:
Mackay Airport – OH stopped and swabbed for the bomb test.
Brisbane Airport – ME! Hand luggage searched, and I had a full body frisk

On the flight, made friends with a nice English lady. As we go through Changi Airport, joked that she shouldn’t go through security with us because she will probably get stopped. Low and behold…… she got my Brisbane treatment!!

Leaving Heathrow – OHs number was up again! Quick frisk before we could go!
Leaving Changi – My turn AGAIN.

Then, we arrive in Brissie – of course, we have declared the “drugs” (antibiotics) and “food” (Lotsa lollies) The guy asked us why we had circled them – explained what we had and he said we could go. That was until cute little puppy sat down next to our case. Cue another bag search.

Let me note at this point that at NO stage did we have anything we shouldn’t have!!

Does anyone else get this sort of attention when travelling? Should I be changing the way I dress or the way I walk????

Often travel by myself Smirf, more often than not with a back pack, unshaven and 'casually' dressed, get stopped every bloomin time,.

On one occasion I spent three hours at Sydney airport being questioned by customs because I had flown out on the very first commercial A380 flight (Singapore to Sydney, a bit of an aircraft buff, ) and was only staying in Sydney for 18 odd hours then returning.

The 'tension' was that much that at one point me and a customs official started to argue about the Rugby as the Poms had beaten the Aussies the previous weekend,.

Bloody sniffer dogs, love animals to bits, but why oh why do the bloomin things insist on jumping up at me and sitting down next to my bags, honest guv, never had anything on me.

Except the one time my mum put a bunch of lucky heather in my backpack when I went to Columbia, try explaining that the 'seeds' that were found were very innocent,.

      Cheers Tony.

I got stopped the other week at the airport for a drugs swab. I joked with the guy doing it "do I fit the profile?". Fair play to him though, he's only doing his job.

I did give one of the guys at City Airport the fright of his life. It was unintentional of course. What happened is I walked through the metal detector and it started beeping. So I was summoned over to be frisked. As I neared the guy I reached into my pocket. With that the guy jumped about ten yards back and landed with an almost karate like pose. Don't know what he thought I was reaching for but innocently I pulled out my Mini-Disc player (ha ha, remember those) and said "I forgot to take it out my pocket".

      Another one Smirf is this.

As an avid fisherman I often try and take my rods on board with me. I Saltwater Flyfish a lot and the rods collapse down to about 2/3 feet in a metal rod case, small enough to put in overhead luggage.

At times I am allowed to take them on board, at other times (particular the USA,) I am made to feel like some kind of Islamic Fundamentalist who wishes death on all infidels.

Bomb squad, anti terrorist branch, hostage negotiators, the whole kittling caboodle descend on me screaming, 'STEP AWAY FORM THE TUBE, NOW.

      Cheers Tony.

Once at munich airport i went thru passport control and into the departure lounge then went for a smoke, got a bit lost and somehow ended up back outside the departure lounge and had to go thru the whole rigmarole again!even tho the guards said it was impossible to go in to the departure lounge and end up outside again, its not!!despise flying/airports me!

Now we have kids in tow I'm never stopped at airports, but I do remember (vividly) my first and only strip search after a weekend in Amsterdam.
I won't go into detail but lets just say they left no cavity untouched in their quest for contraband .
And he never even asked me for my number. Typical bloke
