After some rathersad messages yesterday about people not finding their emigration dream to be quite as they expected, I have a cons list as long as my arm against going.
Can anyone tell me about their good experiences, things they love about Oz to put in my pros list??
Thanks
There are loads of people post on here who are very happy and getting on with there lives. The reason it seems so many people are unhappy is because they are on here all the time complaining when the people who love it are too busy getting on with it.

Hi, Im often asked this question. I lived there for about 6 months back in 2001. I sobbed when I left and I just can't leave the place alone.
Thankfully now oh has agreed to give it ago out there so fingerscrossed we will get that visa.
As to why I love the place, I think its a personal thing. You either love it or hate it. I think a lot depends on your attitude when you get there. If you go with the attitude of lets go for it, bring it on, I deal with whatever is thrown my way, then I think you will make a success of it. If you keep longing for the UK, by keep reading the newspapers online, spending too much time on these forums moaning (like cantwait said) then you will struggle to settle.
You have to do what you want to do.

Karen, I'm sure your right that teh ones enjoying it have no time to spend on a chat forum!
Anxious mum - here, here! our initial reason to leave the UK was because we live close to a city where murders are a weekly occurance and I can't bear our children to grow up with that on the doorstep!
Mandisfam -yes I agree, I think we need to get out there to truly judge for ourselves!
I was really keen on the whole immigration idea and set the ball in motion with OH right behind me, but having read all the stuff on here it has really made me think twice.
Has anyone got any experience of a good time despite being separated from loved ones? How do you keep families close over such a long distance? What is the reality like living 24 hours away from mum and dad etc? Is it always impossible to keep close family ties?
I've been there on holiday, but not to live (yet!!). You should talk to Ali, who is happy in Perth and Jo in the Sunshine Coast (both mods) and Chellem. They are the ones that spring to mind. They all seem to be having a great time.
We went to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and it is beautiful. The beaches are clean and so are the streets.
I don't doubt that like any country there are problems and issues, but no way is it worse than the UK.
I can't comment on the emotional issues. I'm sure that will be the worse part. If you can deal with that i think you'll be OK.
I am driving my OH mad, one minute I can't wait to go the next I am in tears at the family and friends I am leaving behind - must get a grip -
I am sure you will have a happy life out there and let me know how wonderful it is and how easy it is to have your family/friends at the end of a web cam!
