Why don't you make yourself some flyers on the computer with prices etc and take a couple of days walking round a few housing estates posting them in the mailboxes. might work.

How about using your existing customers to bring in more trade..... offer referral discounts, loyalty schemes. For every new customer introduced then they get .......??

Target predominately female environments with leaflets, particularly mum and tots groups, who find it difficult to get to a hairdressers and perhaps less disposable income to spend in salonsl

Im a hairdresser here in blighty and I think a good place to try is local businesses ie. Beauty salons that don't have a hair side, ask if you can advertise there and in return staff get a little discount, or call centres, banks, any office type places have staff notice boards and there a great place to get your poster pinned. I've a friend over here who works in a call centre and that's what she recommends... They have one and there local stylist gets tons of business from it!

Good luck either way and if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Thanks for advice Nics i will try and track some places down but don't know if that sort of thing is anywhere close to where i am, which is mosman pk over, here its right on top of the beach. The city is about 30 mins away so not to far really.
I was a freelance hairdresser with my own business in sevenoaks in kent for 18 yrs and i started the business twicw before and never found it as tough as here. Trying yellow pages next and the white pages too but everything is slower and garder to get done here...but its a small price to pay for the lovely life i suppose lol...i will get there eventually but am impatient when i come to work as i am happiest work flat out lol.

I know the feeling well ... As they say hairdressers are the happiest workers! Have you got a website ... Costly I know but could be worth it, also do Aus have like a salon/hairdressers website like a yellow pages but just for hair and beauty business, I'm not making much sense but I'm on one in uk and get loads of emails of would be clients.
