Cool what does the milk taste like?

Hi Everyone,

I know this is a silly question and some answers back will be, well milk tastes like milk.
But it doesn't, thats the one thing I notice straight away when we go abroad on holiday, it does not matter where you go you corn flakes in the morning taste funny, your cups of tea are not the same, they taste funny. I love my cup of Assam tea in the morning, sometimes we have porridge sometimes crunch nut cornflakes.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not considering the move based on what the milk tastes like, but just wondered how long it took some of you to get used to the different taste in the milk?

Thanks in advance

Glynn and family

Hi Glynn,
It's not a silly question, just one I had not thought of before we made the move!!
Milk over here tastes abit different to the UK, but I think in a good way, it just tastes fresher. However if you think you get a choice of milk in the UK with full, semi & skimmed, you sure as hell ain't seen nothing yet!...full, low, light, homebrand, extra light, skinny, 50%, there are loads to choose from, after trying several we now just stick with homebrand, which (to us at least) tastes like semi!
My son is a milk maniac, and he is very happy with the milk over here and has been since we got here. Cornflakes taste as good and the tea does not have that horrid 'film' on the top you get sometimes!
Hope that answers you questions!
Lisa

Another thing is that the colour of the milk top is different depending where you shop which can be confusing eg in Coles full fat milk as a white top but in Woolworths its a blue top - so don't automatically pick up the colour you're used to buying in UK!!!

YellowGecko will become famous soon enough
Haaa.. I have said it before but I will say it again (just cos I can) but all milk tastes foul to me, so I can't really answer. I will only have it on my cereal and in my Milo (yum!), but from what I can gather, the low fat "Pauls Trim" milk I buy tastes much the same as the Sainsburys semi-skimmed I was used to in England.

Hi Glynn

We were in Oz in Jan Feb and Oct last year and didn't notice any different taste in milk. I know what you mean though as have noticed this in other countries but I have to be honest and say I thought it tasted better if anything. Probably our milk is full of chemicals and that's why we find natural or organic milk to taste strange!
