Born in OZ 39 years ago

Hi everyone,

I was born in Adelaide 39 years ago, mom and dad moved back to the UK when I was almost 5. We have been discussing leaving the UK and poss moving to OZ Perth?
I am married with 2 boys, and the thought of them growing in this country the way things are going it frightens me.

I only have a UK passport but it does say I was born in Australia and I still have OZ birth certificate (held together by tape). Would it be alot easier for me and my family to move to OZ unlike others I have read about who were born in the UK.

It woukld be good to here your thoughts.

Regards

Glynn

Hi Glynn

Just go up to Australia House and Apply for your Aussie Passport. EASY as that! Especially if you have a birth certificate.

My Husband was born in Oz 41 years ago and that is what we did last year. I was granted a Spouse Visa in Jan for me and my Children.

Good Luck

April

hi

I was born in Perth 1970 and parents moved back to Scotland 1978 after 11 years.

We are nearing the end of our process of emigrating to Perth.
I (like you) only had a UK passport but I have to register my marriage in Perth (done but waiting on paperwork coming back) before I can get passport. I have 2 girls who we are applying for citizenship by descent and oz passports, they become dual like me. Hubby is applying for spouse visa - just waiting on his police checks to come back before sending off .
I was told that if you are intitled to citizenship, by whatever means, you cannot go on a visa (kids) although they will still need a medical as dependants.

We are hoping to be there sometime after July to October.
I hope this helps.

hi glynn you are luckier than most, just apply for your aussie passport as you are australian.then apply for spouse and dependents visa (just a formality) they will have to pass a medical then book your tickets ,take about six months, 'piece o' cake'.

Forget six months try six weeks, front load your meds and police checks and you will get a time scale of 4-6 weeks.

As was said before We are the lucky ones.

Yes I agree it can be done quickly. But Glenn needs to sort his passport out first. That can take a month or 2.

If you go to Australia house it takes three days, my oh applied on the Friday and by the Wed he had his passport. Mind you that was last year, Things could be different this year, for instance I had a BBQ last Easter and this year we have snow....lol

But what I really should have said was from the time you submit your application it is only a few weeks,
so apologise for not following the thread properly.
Anyway which ever way you look at it you'll be sorted a lot quicker than most.
