Red face 11 weeks in secret harbour

we arrived in perth on 30th dec, with my husband and and twins aged 13, i'm still finding it hard to come to terms with leaving my mum and dad, family and friends, i think with the children being older you don't meet parents at school and i'm finding it hard with not many friends to share this fab place with. i know it has so much to offer. claire x

I found things hard to start with especially missing family and friends. I looked around and joined a local soccer league and made loads of friends that way. Most of the folk in the team were Brits so we all could chat about things back home, really think it helped me settled alot more. I believe there are alot of Brits in the areas surrounding Secret Harbour and especially north of the river in Joondalup, Edgewater and Woodvale.

Hiya you say the kids are older ,but do they not go friends houses etc ,if so make a point of introducing yourself to their parents, ive met the majority of people here that way.It does take time but hang on in there because it will get easier

Hiya, I know how difficult it is to start making friend when you're not doing a school run - but you will. Have a get together, get your kids to invite a few friends - then invite their parents too. Do the barbie the aussie way where everyone brings what they want to eat and you could have a fun evening.

its a very nice place, a good area for families, they arranged a movie in the park a few weeks ago it was good fun. but it would be even better with a group of friends. x
